The Church of England is to remove reference to the devil from the christening service – in my opinion a positive move. What say you?

Removing all references to anything would be a bigger improvement..
I agree with jomifl.

Stupid nonsense anyway, about time they done away with all this God nonsense as well, then they would have no need for these farcical events.
It is a good move and one step more close to Islam. No child is born with Sin and are completely innocent.

Don't delude yourself, Keyplus. It's a step further away from the superstitious nonsense that is all religion.

Good job. We'd have to have everyone flogged at birth otherwise.
Well, as the Devil doesn't exist, I can't see the point of it being there in the first place.
Keyplus, I have no idea what you mean. Shaitan features quite heavily in Islam - that's the same "person".
Excellent. We should remove the God bit too and go with morals, instead.
Question Author
Boxy, Keyplus doesn't know anything about the ceremony. In fact he clearly hasn't even bothered to read the link.
Sounds like a good idea but then the devil's in the detail.
But the Devil is so much more interesting....
who next?god?
1 less mythical being to worry about. Jolly good thing too.
All it shows the devil has got them on his side already.
Question Author
Goodlife, I'm really sad for you. I mean that.
Don't be, I am so glad I have a faith. Unlike atheists who have nothing to offer all you have is what the Bible says, "Let us eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we may die". Which really is all that the animals have - they have no hope.
With a devil how could the prospect of a Dies Irae guide potentially straying feet back onto the path of righteousness?
'Without', there ^ rather than 'with. Typo, sorry.
Question Author
Goodlife, there are no guarantees in hope - and that is really all you have.
