… and if so, why?

This has been said twice today. Could someone please explain the reasoning behind that claim?

I don't think they are insecure, but I do wonder why they are so interested/obsessed with something ( religion ) that they don't believe in. tis a mystery :)

Simple, Anne. As has been said many times in response to that question, religion affects us all - whether we want it to or not. How difficult is that to understand?
Wasn't it St Paul in his early days who was such a scourge of the Christians? Yet look how he ended up.
Anne, perhaps it is to do with the fact that other people's religion is a major factor in messing the lives of everybody on the planet, atheists included.
Question Author
Yes, just look. Do you have an answer, sandy?
yeah, but he worshipped mars, as well.
I feel very secure actually, why would I feel insecure? just because I don't believe in fairy tales for grown ups?

I think that some theists like to think that we are insecure, it somehow makes them feel better about themselves or maybe they feel we should feel insulted by their ignorance.
No. His sudden change in behaviour is one of the great mysteries of Christendom.

Do you have an answer, sandy?
No.

An opinion?
An opinion, yes. I think at the heart of much atheism is arrogance. Lucifer once haughtily refused to serve and look how he ended up.
Atheists saying, 'I will not believe', is much the same.

//Lucifer once haughtily refused to serve and look how he ended up. //

According to many believers, ruling the world. ;o)

Night all.
Sandy, there is only one small flaw in your argument..can you see what it is?
No. I don't see it. Where have I fallen down?
I bet Naomi comes back, she loves to get the last word LOL :)
Lucifer did not exist.
Isn't expecting everybody to have the same beliefs as you just a tad arrogant. Atheists don't expect anybody to believe anything, neither do they want them to believe anything, that sounds reasonable doesn't it?
I think I've said on more than one occasion that a 'good atheist' is as likely to get to Heaven as anyone else. I do believe that so it follows, in my book anyway, that atheists can believe or disbelieve what they like.
I am an atheist and I am not insecure about that, or indeed anything else in my life, I am delighted to say.

I would not presume to speak for other atheists though.

I am unsure why anyone would think atheists are insecure, from my perspective, it is Christians who wrestle with doubt on a daily basis.

Very clever - I see what you've done there. If she says anything else, you can say 'There you are I told you so', and if she doesn't you can think to yourself - 'Ha Ha well done me, that shut her up'.

I think she's probably gone to bed though.
