Yesterday, I was out walking when I noticed a lot of people around the estate. They were Jehovah's Witnesses. Having engaged in conversation I had a leaflet advertising a website JW.Org. From the conversation I found them to be polite, happy and they made no attempt to convert me. They didn't even ask where I lived or my name, they were quite happy to just stand and talk.

Apologies Hypognosis but I never wrote the books, scrolls transcripts or have given given advice to holy men from any bushes, caves, mountains , the sea the sky or any other place holy men received life changing advice from god himself and was just going on what my limited knowledge of how I understand the religious miraculous change of words from his mouth to the mouths of man.
Am i detecting an detect an atoms weight of sarcasm/irony there from you my any chance?
That sucks, Craft.
It certainly does now after it's been fixed. And some would claim that religion has no place in this modern world.
Respect! Add JWs to my trusted tradesmen link. No, George, not you.
But then sandyroe why is religion growing more and more and gaining more followers as we be more technological as we move forward away from the so called "Dark ages" as we would think?
God's grace. It's that, and that alone, which draws so many young people to faith.
When I said, 'some would claim...', I didn't mean I would claim.

One needs only cross from mocking disbelief to faith to have the scales drop from ones eyes. To see that you are saved is the most wondrous thing imaginable.
I'm not sure quite what to make of that sandyroe but wish I really could whittle away the hours with both you, vetuste_ennemi and anyone else lutking in the shadows who wants to add to this subject right now I but I really do have to crash out now as have a hundred and one things to do tomorrow so enjoy the rest of the night or is it now morning? Anyway I'll catch up with you guys soon I hope to catch up soon.
The route to Damascus has recently become somewhat bloodier since the scales fell from Saul's eyes.
And north of it even bloodier. The massacre of Syrian Christians has gone strangely unremarked.
@Henrietta,

Nope. No sarcasm or irony involved: just saying what I see.

Comparison time:- In Roman Catholicism, newborns are not "innocent", they are born riddled with sin and need a lifetime of prayer, confession, penance and general good behaviour to buy their way into their God's good books. No innocent until proven guilty for them.

It's a report card system: just the thing for keeping child-like minds under control. It's patronising and insulting.

By the way, have you declared your allegiance yet? Are you also an atheist, by any chance?

Are the JW the ones that don't agree with blood transfusions, or is that the Mormons?
JWs disagree with blood transfusions, TRT. Mormons have magical underwear.
it's the JWs. The Mormons are a different kettle of fish. If you think that the JWs are odd, wait till you hear what the Mormons have to say. Best Google it for a summary of their theology.
##JWs disagree with blood transfusions##

I knew it was one of the tribes, and they just let their children die, instead of giving permission to have a blood transfusion, to save their lives.

Nice People!!!!!!!!
JW's are best ignored if possible, because they are as difficult to get rid of as a fart in a spacesuit. Just tell them that you have been "disfellowshipped" and they run a mile.
Hypognosis (to Henrietta), //You might not realise it but that isn't actually a compliment.//

Quite right. It isn’t.

Henrietta, has it ever occurred to you that the majority of the big aid organisations are secular?

//Perhaps you could give us several references as to when people on the site have been anti-JW//.
I would have to go through the posts again but even on this thread there are a couple.

Naomi// I have asked you more than once which church you belong to,//

I really don't know why you should be obsessed with knowing what church I belong to? I don't "belong" to any church. I don't attend any church. I consider myself a Christian and study the Bible.
