Please can someone clarify what "judging" someone is, here is something a born again christian asked me

If you was late for work and saw a drunk at the side of the road in with a bottle of whisky and he looks like he has fallen of his bike, would you stop to help? My reply, yes I would stop and see if he needed an ambulance etc, them "oh I didnt think you would"

You've said you you would be a Good Samaritan and your interlocutor judged you to be a liar.
Very sad.
I don’t think she was calling you a liar. I think that because you aren’t a Born Again Christian, she assumed you don’t care about other people. It's a common misconception.
Surely if someone was truly 'born again' they would see nothing but the best in their fellow man.
That's how I see the world.
I know I've been accused of viewing the world through rose tinted glasses, but that's another matter.
I think most people would stop. I think that people hesitate to help when violence is involved.
sandyRoe, your faith in human nature is greater than mine.
Thank you Naomi. That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me for a very long time. ☺
You're welcome.
Many Christians thing that unless you believe in the biblical nonsense as them, then you must be a bad person!!

Well I aint no saint and I am a ranting Atheist, but I would help anybody that has fallen under any circumstances and trust and respect anybody until I have a reason not to. That's not to say I would ask a total stranger to look after my wallet!!

And I certainly dont like this //you have to earn my respect// nonsense!!
thing = think
Oh! and feel free to slot the word "same" in where it suits.
Ratter....I've been questioning that lately. Is respect earnt?
It is a common misconception among Christians of all flavours that non-believers cannot possibly empathise or sympathise with anyone else, presumably because those devoid of religious fervour don’t have someone else to tell them to do it. It doesn’t seem to occur to them that the altruistic among the non-believers don’t need anyone else to tell them to do it. They just do it – and usually without feeling compelled to advertise it.
And when you look at the morals of some priests/imams/whoever.....
ummmm, no I dont think respect should be earnt, however it can be lost. When you meet a stranger in the street, dont you automatically show respect, you would normally be respectful and polite, they shouldn't need to earn respect. However that respect for some can deepen or be lost for sure.
I expect they meant you looked so sensible you knew there was nothing you could do to help in that situation. (Apart from confiscate the bike until he had sobered up maybe.) But apparently they had misjudged you.
Respect can be both earned and lost. You start off assuming the person you first meet is a decent sort and so you have a default level of respect for them. Where your opinion of them goes after that is dependent on their actions etc..
I agree 100% Ratter.
about 15 years ago, took a job as a taxi driver for a few months, one of my colleages, a fellow taxi driver, was covered from head to toe in tattoos, swallows and zips on his neck. the works!! and great big thick ear ring in one ear with a shaved head and looked a real thug!I didnt like him and had little respect for him!

After about a week of driving, I found that all the old ladies that I was picking said "Where's Phill, he usually picks me up" and I would spend the entire journey listening to how wonderful Phill is. Yes you can guess who Phill was! I got to know Phill very well, he was and still is one of the kindest, nicest men I have ever met.

That incident alone taught me not to judge people so quickly!
See....never judge :-)
In similar circumstances I would do as well MyLove, if its any help.
