No wonder the Bible warns: Do not conform outwardly to the standards of this world !—Romans 12:2,

And when a person follows God’s counsel, everything he does will succeed? (Psalm 1:3)

You want to say that to those in power.

Or I could say the ones you put in power.
Psalm 1, vv 1-2 for you godless lot is:

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,

oops and 1.3 is
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.

quite good as poetry

GL - has no wonder the bible warns - er well - no wonder St Paul warns

'do not conform outwardly to the standards of the world

But wuold you not think that St P ( no not the bible ) when he wrote those words, was referrring to the contemp standards of the Roman Empire and not those of the Psalmist ( God didnt write them, one of more Psalmists did ) ?

that is one needs to study the bible in the context it was written ?
Hey this has shifted onto Satan

and i dont wanna say Wiki is better than GL - but they are on Satan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan

excellent history of the idea of Satan in the OT and NT

( quite a lot of ideas come from the pseudepigrapha they say, Enoch etc )
I continue to enjoy goodlife's non sequiturs, but I do think he ought to answer the quote from Isaiah which I cited above, since he is so keen on that book of the OT.
Go on, goodlife, I challenge you.

You know in spite of all the reproaches and mockers, scorners and opposers.

It vindicate Jehovah’s long-suffering and patience with evildoers in that, as a result of our preaching, others gain salvation.—2 Pet. 3:15.
1 Peter 3:15New International Version (NIV)

15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
Well goodlife, how about some answers to the questions we have asked over the months?
Vulcan42 your questions are asked from a position of mockery so goodlife is not in any way obliged to respond to them .
Wow this thread still going since I last looked !

Right; quoting a few general nonsense (gloom & doom in the main) prophesies have very little to do with the news, regardless whether someone watches the news or not. After all when references to "seed" is made it is so nonsensical that one can claim it applies to anything they wish, from any time. It is valueless.

Shoving in references to "good news" is equally pointless.

One need not worship an unproven deity in order to find love. If you need to, then for you that may be useful; but not everyone needs that aid.

Whose people spends money & time on weapons of war ? Presumably they are responsible then, and presumably this is the one who has yet to distinguish true from false.

Which God put them in power and yet apparently can not distinguish true from false ?

I think one needs a coherent argument that one can offer for discussion before starting a thread.
No one is obliged to reply to questions at all. But if the question is valid and an answer is not forthcoming one must assume it has found a flaw in the offered argument.
I copied and pasted a passage from the bible just as goodlife does, that's imitation not mockery. I thought if I showed goodlife a passage which says he should answer questions he might do so, if he doesn't then I will know that he selects only the parts from the bible which suits his argument, in other words he decides which words of his god should be seen, now that's mockery.
Religion is a mockery of human reason.

You have a Bible see for yourself Rev1:3 you know you are a poor lot.
Lol GL, you think we are poor? you are the one that needs a book of fairy tales to tell what to do and how to behave, that is just sad!!
I havent got round to Rev 1:3

2 Peter 3 .15 is: 5 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

and no one will be surprised that it doesnt mention Jahwe but does the Lord ( Kurios ) and also our brother Paul
and Rev 1: 3 is

3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

and quite honestly GL - at the time this was written whether or not they believed it - the time clearly WASN'T at hand....
He said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.— John 13:35

There is a great amount of love among my friends yet we are all atheists. Consequently it is shown that Jesus as reported by John was wrong.

The Bible is again wrong. The religion is a farce.
// He said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.— John 13:35

There is a great amount of love among my friends yet we are all atheists. Consequently it is shown that Jesus as reported by John was wrong. //

I am not sure if you can get logically to :
everyone who shows love to each other are my disciples....

and I would not subscribe to the view that this is the way to Christianity:
love each other and boys and girls - you are there - you are now christians ter daah nothing else required....

35 εν τουτω γνωσονται παντες οτι εμοι μαθηται εστε εαν αγαπην εχητε εν αλληλοις

( if you have love in each other )

As expected, goodlife has ignored the passage from the bible which tells him to answer questions, proving he only accepts the parts of the bible that suits him, how convenient.
Peter Pedant //I am not sure if you can get logically to :
everyone who shows love to each other are my disciples.... //

Then the verse is meaningless.
