Did You Spot The Continuity Error In Silent Witness?

On Silent Witness, Kevin returns to his grandparents. His grandmother takes his dinner of pie and chips and beans out of the oven holding the hot plate with a cloth. Kevin accepts the plate and stands holding it whilst chatting - it is apparently no longer hot. They all sit. Kevin on the left eats his pie and chips with his fork in his right hand holding it tight on the shaft and scooping the food towards him. (A feat I would pay good money to see the pie self cuts). The knife wobbles in thin air. His Grandfather eats his pie and chips strangely uneaten and not in the oven with just a fork in his left hand. His grandmother eats her pie and chips which she also has failed to keep warm in the oven with just a fork in her right hand. She and her husband look like they are fork duelling! Now I await the clue "It looks like a left handed person did it Inspector", or 'They must have damaged their left arm". Eating pie with a fork! Is this the USA now?
