Millions of people claim to be godless, atheistic, not committed to any god. But they contradict themselves by worshiping a national god.

And what "National God" would that be?
Like?
Indeed they do. How many people do you see as you go about your daily business who are votaries at the shrines of Mammon or Dionysus?
I think we may have uncovered something here. goodlife, what is your definition of a god ?
Hi Good Life - good to see you try try and trying again
true evangelist -

How do I view the statement - well you have to have and idea of what a God did when Micah was written
and we know ! My Dean of Chapel Anthony Phillips wrote God BC
which was the Jews' view of God and their contemporaries in 1 AD

and yes there were lots of national gods and when the city state fell - so Did the God - Bel Ashtar and so on

God for the Jews signally did NOT - during the captivity in Babylon
their God persisted....

well you did ask me what I thought .....
Hey a more interesting question is

why are the JWs going through ANOTHER millennarial convulsion ?
[ = thinking it is gonna be the end of the world ? ]
I view it like the rest of the nonsense you post here.
A dog thinks "This man feeds me, loves me, grooms me, houses me, pets me, and takes good care of me. He must be God."

A cat thinks, "This woman feeds me, loves me, grooms me, houses me, pets me, and takes good care of me. I must be God"
@Canary42....:-)
I have no belief and don't 'worship' anything or anyone!
To quote the bible and then talk about contradictions is asking for trouble. The bible is full of them.

One of the Hebrew words conveying the idea of worship (ʽa•vadhʹ) basically means “serve.”

Peoples of all nations are flooded with nationalistic propaganda through their own newspapers, magazines, radio and television. Hemmed in by boundaries and censorship, the peoples’ thinking is confined to their own nation, to worshiping it, to idolizing it. This controlled thinking affects almost everyone’s mind

So all people are inclined to worship someone or something, even if it is to worship one’s own self.

Did you know a person who sourly says, “I do not worship anybody or anything! is really a worshiper of himself. He makes himself a human god, but due to his egotism he is unaware of that fact.

It is obvious that man cannot create better world.

Why, look at all his efforts over millenniums of time. Look at all the scientific means he has at hand today. And yet man has proved to be unable to bring this earth up to a state free from drought, famine starvation, War,and so on.

Something has been wrong. This has to do with man’s worship. He has obscured the true worship. He has failed to worship the Creator of all things, the divine Planter of the original earthly home, but no you love it the way it is
I know this is a question and answer site but surely you ask a question and wait for an answer, not, as goodlife does, ask a question and then return later to give the answer.
He comes out with ridiculous statements such as \\ Did you know a person who sourly says, “I do not worship anybody or anything! is really a worshiper of himself. He makes himself a human god, but due to his egotism he is unaware of that fact. // without an iota of proof and expects people to believe it.
As he is so fond of quoting scriptures I refer him to Matthew 7:1
/// Something has been wrong. This has to do with man’s worship. He has obscured the true worship. He has failed to worship the Creator of all things, the divine Planter of the original earthly home, but no you love it the way it is///

Not a day goes by without me shaking my head in despair from some peoples attitude and ignorance. I find myself increasingly intolerant of the selfishness, disrespect and lack of humility from so many. So, I don't love it the way it is.....
////I know this is a question and answer site but surely you ask a question and wait for an answer, not, as goodlife does, ask a question and then return later to give the answer.////

That's Jehovah's Witnesses for you, never let you get a word in.
So what are you doing about it apart from berating everybody else?
//man has proved to be unable to bring this earth up to a state free from drought, famine starvation, //

Sad really that man is left to struggle to find a solution to these problems. Just think ....if only God had been a more competent designer.

The atheist of today, whether he be a Communist or be of another political faith, thinks that in this modern nuclear, space age it has become old-fashioned to believe in an invisible god. In ancient times belief in one God or in many gods was part of the everyday life of the people in general.

So whether in so many words or not, whether I meant to infer it or not, the obvious implication of the powers of the political party represent the people.

If he called political god or not, it would not be beyond him to consider himself and his political associates and allies likewise gods, supposedly.

If he meant the programs rather than the individuals in the two political parties, the effect is the same. As a president said, the people are free to do what they like in selecting human leaders and parties and programs to follow.
But you do well to remember that following the mighty men or their promises in any human political party is who you serve.

The Bible says- Do you not know that if you keep presenting yourselves to anyone as slaves to obey him, you are slaves of him because you obey him, either of sin with death in view or of obedience with righteousness in view?”— Rom. 6:16, NW.

Naomi @ Try with a little more intelligent? because intelligent beginning, that Someone made it happen.” It also had to be Someone who cared.
Goodlife, I managed to decipher your post and I’ll overlook your rudeness.

//It also had to be Someone who cared.//

But in designing the world with its droughts, disease, natural disasters, etc., the alleged creator clearly wasn’t someone who cared. One could be forgiven for thinking he finds pleasure in causing human beings to suffer.
Maybe it was meant to read dared[i not [i]cared] Naomi ;)
