It is a year ago since thousands of Yazidis were trapped on Mt Sinjar surrounded by ISIS forces. Although many escaped thousands of others were not so lucky....

Please read the attached link and help support Rozin Hanjool's campaign to help the many thousands of Yazidi women who await rescue and support.

Thank you.

Hmmm, the Yazidi don't treat their own daughters very well do they AG. I remember reading in the paper recently where a family lured their own abused child back home so that she could be killed!

Support for the victims is all well and good but does nothing to address the cause of their plight and the continuation of that which only creates more victims many of which are victims of the inherent consequences of their own ideology.

Thank you all who have added to the petition.

@ ladybirder

Thanks for the link. I am aware of some instances of Honour killings involving the Yazidi sect, particularly the case of Du'a Aswad which attracted much worldwide condemnation. In that instance neither parent could prevent what occurred and wanted her to return home safely.

The situation with the Yazidi women and ISIS is altogether different which the US government eventually acted on with humanitarian aid.

@ Mibs

I understand your point but as the link states we know the cause. Rozin's efforts are not just about the support angle but keeping the pressure on the UK government to act:

' She wants to meet Home Secretary Theresa May, Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening, and Foreign Minister Philip Hammond, and help prepare an action plan to save these women.'

Commendable do you not agree?
This is so sad agchristie. I support the petition, but am afraid it will do nothing to alleviate the plight of those unfortunate souls until the politicians get onboard and grow a pair.

It defies logic how the leaders of the Eastern countries can tolerate the many avenues of torture/murder/rape under the pretense of religion and not step in to abolish these evil practices.

Due to modern technology, It has only been in the last few decades that this long standing inhumane practice has come to light.

What has become of the human race?
The middle east is overflowing with victims unwilling to abandon and condemn the ideologies of their captors and give serious consideration to the ideologies of those attempting to liberate them. In a deeper sense we are witness not only to a clash of ideologies but a rebellion against reason itself.

Yes, such is the collective might of the coalition alliance wouldn' t you have thought the feel good factor would be more pronounced?

Despite all the fighting talk and condemnation who really knows where this is all heading?

I wish I could answer that.....

Applying your statement to the thousands of Yazidi women, what can they realistically do? If they do not accede to their captor's demands they will be cast aside.

Liberation is what they strife for and, if that is achieved, I am sure that after what they have experienced they would give the serious consideration you mention but it will take much support, time and patience to deal with their trauma.
For over 20 mins. of precious web time, I have tried to sign this. I'll try again tomorrow - don't know what is up with it tonight - I clicked the link and found myself looking at something about footy. (It's taken 3 goes to type this!)

Following the example of the OP, perhaps one way would be to relay the message and help spread awareness of the injustice and the petition.

Thanks Mibs, exactly. Maximum pressure needs to be exerted on the UK government.

What must the Yazidi women think about the international response?

Who can really imagine their pyschological state?
