Onwards and Downwards Continues in September 2015
Hello all,
Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.
Well, the summer wasn't as hot as we expected was it? So perhaps it was less tempting to dip into the freezer for some ice cream :-)
Seasonal food available now includes cabbage, haddock, lamb, beetroot and chicory.
Here are a few healthy recipes:

This looks really yummy and full of goodness, apart from the halloumi which you could cut out or substitute for a healthier version.

We keep being told we should be eating more fish so how about this simple fish supper.

Ingredients
1 lb salmon fillets, cut into 4 equal portions
4 oz low-sodium wheat-free tamari soy sauce
2 Tbsp rice vinegar
3 tsp chopped fresh garlic
3 tsp fresh ginger, minced
12 ozs apple juice concentrate (just watch the sugar content)
4 oz finely chopped green onions
Combine all ingredients except onions and salmon in blender container and process. Stir in onions.
Place salmon in glass baking dish and pour the marinade over salmon. Marinate for 10 minutes to 1 hour. Turn salmon occasionally to evenly distribute marinade.
Preheat grill or broiler. Grill or broil 3 to 5 minutes on each side, or until fish flakes easily.
Serve with salad or something like steamed asparagus, mini-courgettes, thin French beans - roasted vine toms go well with this, as an extra addition and for colour.

Its a new month and I'm ready To apply extra determination! Sadly I over indulged somewhat over the Bank Holiday weekend with rather too much eating out and gained 2lbs so no more talking the talk for me I need to Walk the Walk.
Yes that includes getting out at lunch time for my 20 minutes trot round town.

Apologies for the thread detour but, yes thanks. I was not in an accident, it occurred while my car was parked on the road, and I only found out when someone told me it had a dent and a note on the windscreen. I finally gave up calling the mobile number that was left. Even if it is genuine it is never on the network, and I phoned the insurance company yesterday. Will have at least the excess to pay unless the culprit can be chased. All I need whilst I have no income :-( Stressing me out, but maybe it'll reduce the appetite. Knowing my luck it has probably increased it. Thanks for enquiring.
