I've just been told as much.
I have a subsidiary question: why are some people (whether through bigotry, lack of education, or poverty of imagination I don't know) unable to accept that people who disagree with them may do so for honorable and decent reasons?
Jackdaw - //This what Retro and DB are referring to: "My view is that anti-abortionists are very nasty people, and of course, I am entitled to hold that view". // Indeed - I have allowed my emotions to get the better of me, for which I apologise, and withdraw the statement.
I realised it could be intertretted in various ways as soon as I hit the submit. Probably all valid. What I had in mind was, "Is Everyone Who Agrees With Abortion Evil ?"

Got it, OG.
I am pro-abortion. But I do accuse every Catholic who disagrees with me of being "very nasty indeed". That would make me a bigot.
I hope that is clear and unambiguous answer to your question.
vestuste - I can see that I have inadvertently expressed a view which I do not actually hold.
I have said that I regard anti-abortionists as very nasty people.
I would wish to amend that view and say that I regard anti-abortionists as people who hold a very nasty view on the subject of abortion - a fine but important distinction.
Why would anyone who disagrees with the killing of an unborn baby be 'Evil' Am I missing something here? I am anti-abortion (with a few exceptional circumstances) but would not call anyone who was pro-abortion 'Evil' that's just idiotic.
I tend to be anti-abortion except in cases where the mother's life is otherwise endangered bit I don't make a song and dance about it and I don't class pro-abortionists as being 'evil'.
andy - why would someone be 'nasty' because they are against the killing of an unborn baby for 'convenience'? You can be 'Pro-Choice' yet still be anti abortion -does that makes sense? I think the choice to have an abortion should be just that -a choice you can make -I would still disagree with the abortion, but have to accept the personal choice someone has made without calling them Evil or Nasty.
Neither I do accuse every Catholic who disagrees with me of holding "a very nasty view on the subject of abortion". I just happen to think they're wrong.
A very crude, but important distinction, don't you think?

I have corrected my position in a previous post Retrochic - I do not wish to put forward a view that anyone who opposes abortion is 'nasty' or 'evil' and I have corrected myself on that view.
I think the ethical decisions made surrounding an abortion are massively complex, which is why I think a blanket 'pro-life' position is untenable.
