I found a blog once that asked what were the dealbreakers in religious beliefs....ie what were the things that were at the actual core of what a person believed as an individual, not as doctrine of an organised religion.
To answer you question I would need to know “matter to whom” and what is meant by “matter"

My first reaction was , Christianity would not exist and probably neither would
Islam as that developed as a reaction to Christianity. Similarly the other world religions may have been influenced . The history of the world would certainly have been very different. Whether it would have been for better or worse is a another matter.

Does it matter to whom?//
it matters to him ; he's a theologian ....
er it doesnt seem to matter to the last Bishop of Durham - when he went - to heaven probably - the people of Durham were asked what they wanted in the next one, and tended toward ... a bishop this time who believed in God would be a good idea
That one was the fella who looked on the Resurrection as a trick with a bag of bones - oh come on Modeller you know all this......
and yes jesus is only witnessed after the resurrection by those who believe so it ( resurrection) may not be historical
O god I cant believe i am writing this in Lent to someone who reads the bible in aramaic - an easter miracle perhaps

Peter Pedant Who are you talking to " it matters to him ; he's a theologian ...? "
You don't know who asked me the question ! I don't know for sure either .
Although I would guess it was the Baptist minister who runs the monthly tea and cakes social group and I'm invited because I'm an Atheist and he wants someone to provoke the believers into defending their faith.
