The new format is not user friendly and although I haven't been here for a while I doubt if I will ever be back. It used to be easy and fun.

If you're using a PC (rather than, say, an Android device or on iPad), try dropping the font size down to 80% by pressing Ctrl and - together twice.

If you're seeing elements of the old site (such as lots of orange) or you're finding that text overlaps the edges of the boxes it's meant to be within, clear your browser's cache. (On a PC, using any of the main browsers, that's achieved by pressing Ctrl and F5 together).

If you're experiencing another problem (or using a different device) please let us know so that we can help to solve your problem. After all, that's what AB is meant to be for: a site for asking questions and getting answers!

I quite like the new format. I think, though, that footfall has declined.
Unscientific, based on the observation that there are fewer late night posts and that threads which you might think could create momentum often peter out quickly. The data are available to AB techies, so Ab Editor can provide authoritative comment.

VE's anecdotal evidence? Well saw a super question - "This is the punchline - what's the builid-up?". Went on for a long time. Lots of dirty, but funny jokes evading censorship.

Another example, wife watching Heartbeat asked me if it was Joan Baez singing Baby Blue. I posted the song and quoted my wife. Didn't expect many answers, but all the Baez fans responded and one of the guys had been in a Parisian bar with his wife or lover while Joan was doing a bit of singing and playing gratis.

This is social media doing social things.

Fast forward to "new format" times. Somebody posted a question "Best insults?". There's a rich vein of material to be mined. Could have been a thread with several hundred postsand a lot of fun.

Didn't last two days.

I m with Mamy here.......if Theland doesn't understand the new format, than he should just admit it. Buenchico has posted a very helpful guide, and perhaps it might useful if Theland took a few moments to read it.

And I think Mamy should have an apology.

I agree totally with Theland.
It may be "User friendly" but that depends upon to whom one is referring, it is certainly less "User friendly" than the previous format in my opinion.
Yes, one does get used to the new format, but the change has been a retrograde move in my opinion.

I agree with Sqad. The format does take some getting used to but is workable if you follow Buenchico's advice first and give it a go, but it is not an improvement in my opinion and I am sure there has been a noticeable reduction in traffic. Crossword section seems to be suffering most from mispostings /absence of letter counts/clues and the repositioning of the search Box is a contributory factor, but things are slowly improving. The lack of visibility of all but 6 topics means that sections such as Science, B&F, J&E will soon die as they are used far less than they used to be.

I am not sure V-E's comments refer to the layout changes- they seem to refer more to moderation.

I think that Theland should be congratulated for FINDING Religion and Spirituality .......it took me ages....but there again I don't often go down that way ;-)
