I thought this was a joke article from one of those spoof news sites when I first saw it. There are lots of questions here but I'll go with 'Does anyone think he'll actually be charged with the offence?'
The person who made the complaint ought to be horse whipped.
They claim that they themselves weren't offended but we're intrigued as to whether blasphemy laws had been broken, so basically another of the 'perpetually offended on behalf of others' brigade.
Until proof of any 'god' is forthcoming such laws ought to be scrapped.
v_e, THAT I call cowardly - although I agree that there was no doubt an element of self-preservation in it. Appalling really that one religion is capable of silencing its critics so easily – and it’s accepted – and moreover often defended. They have their methods! I wonder what Sam Harris, the most voracious of Islam’s critics, would have said had he been in the same situation?
I don't think that anyone on here has wondered why no Roman Catholic bishops or priests were offended enough to complain to the Irish police. 'Oxygen of publicity', perhaps?
VE, people being attacked by Islamic vigilantes is a very different story from people in Europe being found guilty and convicted of blasphemy by the law of the land!!!
I disagree 100% with the attacks and abhore them but it is NOT what is being asked here!

The powers that be in Saudi Arabia are vigilantes?
Eddie, v_e has raised a very interesting argument insofar as he is saying that in western countries where blasphemy laws don’t exist, we are nevertheless silenced by the blasphemy ‘rules’ of another culture.
Naomi - they have - but they were not the only ones - there are thousands more people who hold their views and remain un-'silenced' by another culture, as you put it.
