If we follow the evidence, as I have done for many years, then we can suffer a blow out like Richard Dawkins, who ignores the evidence in favour of his own misguided atheistic zeal, or honestly and rationally come to the conclusion that God exists.

And which 'evidence' [sic] would that be, then?
Question Author
World politics, global weather etc. I could go on but if you are too lazy to consider your own future then that is your loss. Have a happy present, the future for you sounds dark.
Theland, I have read the Bible in its entirety and found it wanting. Can I ask how many of Richard Dawkins' books have you read?

A couple, and lots of YouTube, the man is a fool grasping for evidence where there is none, and ignoring evidence right in front of him.
He is more interested in supporting his assumptions.
//He is more interested in supporting his assumptions.//
Kettle, pot and black I think.
Out of curiosity Theland, have you actually read the bible from cover to cover, all of it?
Question Author
I got lost in Kings. So you suggest quantity over quality and ignoring the scholars who did for us? Get real. Save yourself.
//So you suggest quantity over quality//
No. I suggest you actually get to know your subject before trying to defend it.
//Get real. Save yourself.//
Save myself from what exactly?
No.
Sorry, that should have been No!
Theland, you can only quote the bible as your source of evidence if you have read and understood it, you admit you haven't done so. Please explain how "world politics and global weather etc" is evidence of a god and don't come out with the usual trite remarks about "you could go on but we're too lazy etc". If you have evidence, present it and prove it.
Theland, I always find people like you amusing. You accuse scientists like RD as a blow out, misguided, a fool etc and yet believe that all of mankind is worthy of eternal torture because a dirt man and a rib woman who lived 6000 years ago in an enchanted garden became deceived by a talking snake into eating the fruit of a magical tree. And the only way to avoid this eternal torture was for God to sacrifice himself to himself to save us from a hell that he made himself. In your own words 'Get real'.
"If you have evidence, present it and prove it."

Don't be daft!

The usual Christian response to being challenged on the fairy stories is "Well, I just love the Lord". Talking snakes, walking on water, raising from the dead, seven trumpets blowing, etc.

So long as the seven trumpets are blowing sweet rock 'n' roll, then I'm happy :-)
davegosling, you forgot the talking donkey, the Bibles very own Mr Ed.
Not forgetting 900+ year old men! My favourite Bible quote is from Jesus, the man himself who, according to Luke, actually said "But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me."

The usual Christian response to that, and everything else that makes them uncomfortable, is that it's a parable / metaphor / simile / aphorism, etc.
I got lost in Kings

I quite liked Kings - mentions Sheshonk as a pharaoh who really existed and gave the israelites hell

( scene also to be found on one of the Pylons at Karnak )
I wouuldnt say it was true - like you know the Daily Mail or anything
No I don't Theland. This God you are always on about only exists in your imagination. All gods are the result of irrational belief in illogical circumstances.
Can't remember Sheshonk from Kings.
Can remember Alison Steadman from Samuel.
Or am I getting my threads crossed?

No other book describes us as accurately as the bible. The prophecies are overwhelming but you choose to stay with discredited evolution, biased scientists who only look to support their assumptions.
Then of course, ridicule.
Present evidence? No thanks. I would just like you to seriously investigate yourselves. For your sakes.
Watched the second part of BBC4's Jerusalem two nights ago.

Only remember the Assyrian assault on the Southern Kingdom from English class rather than the Bible. Sennacherib then, not Tiglath Pileser III.

Anapaest you see: "The Assyrian came down like a wolf on the fold...".
