Would you still love God if you knew he was going to damn you to eternal torment? After all you assert that we are all born sinners and worthy of hell because God is 'righteous' and that's what we deserve.
Seems to me that the religious, for all their talk of loving God, are only loving God because they are afraid of NOT doing so.
Not been flippant here, I'm genuinely interested in why you would want to worship an entity that would torture you for an eternity if you DIDNT love him.
Thanks :-)

//You are such a tortured little soul. //
Sanctimonious rubbish JJ.
Ive got my own problems...havnt we all...but tortured? By what?
*Your* religious beliefs?
NAH!
Let's say your Brain
Question Author
I'm with Beso, is he tortured as well?
Question Author
//Let's say your Brain//
Say what you want, Religion is rubbish. And I'm NOT tortured by it. BUT I will oppose its pernicious influence in everyday lives.
You keep asking the questions, always knowing you'll get answers you will disagree with - it does all seem pretty futile whichever way you look at it.
Question Author
IYO Mamya.
In my opinion, yes.
Do what I am about to do Nailit - am going to listen through earphones (the only way I can hear) classic music. Goodnight to you.
Question Author
Mamya, and ive got no reason to 'dis' your opinion. Ive said b4 on here that one of my closest friends is a retired pastor. No problem at all. *BUT* when people start to preach, then I *WILL* question. And don't get offended when I do.
Question Author
that's right JJ, put ur earphones in and ignore any reply to ur rude comments and carry on as if everything is ok. Standard response from religionists...don't reply, just cover ears.
I don't like people who preach at me, I switch off, walk by or leave the room - I most certainly don't engage them in interrogation.

I believe what I do and allow others to do the same or if they prefer no belief then that's fine too.

Question Author
//I don't like people who preach at me, I switch off, walk by or leave the room - I most certainly don't engage them in interrogation//

Then why are you engaging me?
nailit "I will question when people preach" That makes sense if you only respond to preaching threads on here but it doesn't explain why you start threads
Sorry to ask but are you drinking?
Question Author
Good question woof ;-)
Sometimes I cant help myself...
(hey, at least I'm honest eh?)
Question Author
//Sorry to ask but are you drinking? //
No need to be sorry 237, but why do you ask?
I'm answering questions you have asked me, I'm not interrogating you or calling into question your thoughts on religion.

I'll leave it there.
idiosyncrasy //You are referring to an ancient law. These do not apply under the law instituted by the death of Jesus Christ. //

Please show where the death of Christ ended the authority of the Laws of the Old Testament.

Jesus himself was very devoted to the book (John 10:35) and said that its laws were permanent (Matthew 5:18)
Just wondering
Question Author
//I'll leave it there//
Another standard response from religionists.
