We now appear to be in an epidemic of killings in London; guns (so much tfor guns laws) and knifings. Why arn't these three coming up with ideas to halt it?
And no, it is nothing to do with money or any cuts, you cant have a copper on every street corner.

2. If it can't be solved quickly, there's no political capital to be gained in promising to do it.
Khan and May are not politicians who do or say anything unless they think it will advance them somehow, and presently there are no political incentives to approach this problem and plenty against it. If they both ignore it, they can just blame each other. Which will be good enough each of their 'base' supporters.
Depressing, yes. But welcome to the mind of a politician.

What exactly is there to educate people about when it comes to knives?
Education's not the issue. People too often think about the schools for problems like this, but education isn't an effective remedy to all social problems. It's broken families, lack of real prospects for young people, and reactionary policing. None of those things appeared overnight, and they won't go away quickly, if at all.

Because everyone commits minor infractions and don't need to pay for a service supposed to be making life in society better instead taking the opportunity to make the lives of decent folk worse. But I'm sure you knew that. You go live in a state of stress if you like, but don't inflict it on others.
I do struggle to understand the changes. When I was 10 (1959) Mum went to London to look after my uncle and aunt's corner store whilst they had a well-earned holiday. The shop was on a corner of Tottenham Court Road. My dad joined her, bringing us, for a few days before the start Autumn term, and my little sister and I roamed quite happily around the area (we were also taken to the major 'sights'). There was no problem whatsoever.
Conclusion: the people have changed. Question: how and why? The answer does not look good. The area now seems to be full of people who do not understand or accept the term 'British Law'. It is up to the country to enforce our laws and standards - which may be unpleasant in the short term - so that small children may once again roam happily in the streets. I repeat, it may be unpleasant; strong action is called for and at last I accept the need for identity cards so culprits can be identified and dealt with.

I agree, jourdain.
I am the only one in my family not born in London, but as a child (I’m not as old as you!) made frequent visits, and used to go and stay during school holidays.
Over the years, most of the family moved to the county where I now live, so for many years I didn’t go, but when my own children got older, I went back occasionally for shopping and entertainment.
I last went a year ago, and said I would never go again.
I think it’s an awful place. It’s like being in another country.

You want a mess to be cleared up but you don’t want to spend any money on it. Not an uncommon approach in Britain, but still people are astonished and outraged when it doesn’t work. Sad to say, even putting up signs everywhere saying Big Brother is Watching You costs money, and as for actually hiring Big Brothers...

/// they need more youth centres for these youngsters to go ///
These gang members are not interested in youth centres, the streets are their youth centres.
Everyone seems to be pussy footing around this ever increasing problem, but it is one more problem caused by the Multicultural experiment.
And Black gangs are all part of the drug scene, one only has to see what is happening in places like Jamaica for example.
The sooner it can be discussed openly with out the fear of being called racist the better it will be for everyone and that includes some of these young disillusioned black youngsters.
