Why do religionists (of all flavours) hate this way of thinking so much?
What is wrong with trying to enjoy this one and only life (that we can be certain of) so much?
We all go through our own personal griefs in life, our own personal problems and struggles, but what is so WRONG about enjoying our existence once in a while?
For me its not about 'eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die'. Its more about eat, drink and be merry for today Im alive. And Im currently enjoying been alive...

I don't know any 'religionists' who think that way. Have people actually said this to you directly? I personally don't think there is anything wrong about enjoying our existence - and nobody's ever tried to persuade me otherwise.

Im actually quoting the Bible, where this way of thinking is derided and yes its been quoted at me. (by funementalist types)

neveracrossword, one of my closest friends is a retired pastor. Hes never come out with that cr ap to me either. Lots of others have though. (there one on here that does as well, but let him be)

In real life I do try to avoid religious discussions (occasional JW at the door but they soon depart when *I* start quoting the bible at them)
Discussions online are slightly different. If someone (eg Theland) makes statements that just arnt true then I will challenge them....and await an answer that just wont come!
