Christian Gullibility

R&S has gone a bit quiet, hope Theland's OK.
Anyway, reading this book at the moment

This guy (William Schnoebelen) is a Christian who claims that in the past he has been a Pagan, a high priest of Wicca, a Catholic priest, a Satanic high priest, a high degree Freemason, a Mormon, an alien abductee, a vampire, a Druid priest...etc, the list goes on, until Jesus saved him.!!!
This guy sells millions of books to 'Christians', is popular on the Christian speaking circuit and has thousands on his you tube channel.
After reading the first few chapters of this book I could tell that he hasn't a clue what he was talking about. (ive spent years studying all this kind of stuff) and yet people buy into this rubbish when a few simple internet searches would tell you that he is either bonkers or a charlatan.
Just why are some people so gullible?
(BTW, the book was lent to me by a friend who wanted to know what I thought of it, I certainly wouldn't have bought it)

This is one guy (one of the thousands of self-promoting wonderboys on Youtube) but he has a right to say whatever he wants within reason, and like all Youtube stars, he will have his following. Presuming that the only people who buy his books are Christians is gullible, to say the least- you're proof of it yourself.
You clearly have some sort of grudge against Christianity (you turned away from it years ago) and instead of moving on, you appear possibly obsessed with judging others (mainly Christians) and allowing your own negative experiences with Christianity to be a chip on your shoulder. If you simply don't believe it, Nailit, why still give it headspace?

You let yourself down with the title on this one- why not just call it "Gullibility"- come on, you're either looking for some adverse reaction or just a bit gullible! Some people are even gullible enough to disbelieve in God, Nailit :)
I wonder if this is perhaps less about asking why people are gullible and more about having a dig at Christians? As for your question, "why are some people so gullible", One could equally ask: why are some people gullible enough to take drugs and think they'll be okay? Why are some people gullible enough to believe when they die, that's it?
People are generally gullible because they have not had the life experiences that would give them the insight to make a more informed choice.

I'm not 'in' Atlanta, Atlanta is the nearest big place, I'm in a small town a ways out from that and for the most part I love the people here, they are seriously friendly and lovely, just this one today really wound me up ( it was slightly irrelevant that she was Christian although that did figure strongly in the conversation) but she could have been anything, the point that upset me would have been the same, but she was she was Christian and that's how we got talking because she was trying to lure me to her church.

//You let yourself down with the title on this one//
No I didn't.
//why not just call it "Gullibility"//
Ive posted it in R&S for a reason, its about Christian/religious gullibility. Not that of the general population.

Not having a dig at all, just asking a question (if that ok with you?)
//One could equally ask: why are some people gullible enough to take drugs and think they'll be okay?//
Addictions are not what are been addressed here and you know it so stop trying to derail the thread.
You took the title of my thread/OP and made it something it wasnt, try reading (and at the very least looking it up) the rest of the post before commenting.
