A moral dilemma that I can’t resolve – and I’ve tried every which way. Job …. that faithful, loyal, righteous man who lost everything on the whim of a gambling God bent on massaging his own ego. Can you resolve that moral dilemma. Theland?
Question Author
Job - No of course not.
Job, like us, saw the picture in terms of only this life.
Like Abraham, we should simply trust in Gods wisdom that He knows better than us.
//we should simply trust in Gods wisdom that He knows better than us. //

How was God 'wise' in Job's case? His sole purpose in doing what he did was to massage his own ego. Try again, Theland. I'll look in for your reply tomorrow.
Question Author
If we look for a favourable outcome exclusively in this life, well, we may well be disappointed.

Trust in the bigger picture is needed.

Stephen Fry said, if he met God he would say, "Children with cancer? What's that all about?"

Highly emotional of course. And why not?
Question Author
Naomi- God needs no defence from me.
You work it out.
It is possible to come to a resolution.
Oh, Ellipsis, that was so sad.
Yes, the supreme moral dilemma is not about what (not very bright and not very good) human beings do to deal with conflicts amongst themselves and their tribes, but about the contradiction between the world as we we see it and the character of the "Good" God who created it.

The argument from theodicy provides a complete refutation in my opinion of the existence of the monotheists' God.
Ellipsis, that is a real life dilemma indeed and a heartbreaking one for Ibrahim.
I must say, when I saw the OP in Latest Posts I thought it would be about those twins ...
They are so beautiful.
Theland, you asked 'Can you think of any [moral dilemmas] that leave you unable to resolve?'

I thought of one but have had nothing but airy fairy responses from you. What was your point in posing the question?
Question Author
Airy fairy. Another put down. No surprises there then.
I'm not sure whether to give to charities that help factory workers and their families in 3rd world countries because by doing so it's effectively subsidising the operation, allowing the owners to continue to pay lower wages and keep working conditions as they are and the workers reliant on charity. If their workforce started dying they would be forced to improve things by paying them more and improving conditions but then this would push the price of the goods up meaning some customers will switch to other brands that are lower priced, putting some workers out of work and reliant on charity.
