Religionist And Atheists

Im a non believer in religion (Atheist if you want)
One of my best, lifelong, friends is a retired minister of religion (+ His wife).
I have a couple of other friends that are evangelical Christians.
I work with Christians. (TrusselL Trust) & I love my work and the people that I work with.
They all know that Im an atheist and that I don't accept the Christian doctrine.
We all get on fine.

And then there's Answerbank and R&S...….

Yes, people usually find things in common irl. This isn't a natural situation, it is for anyone and everyone to pitch in.

By definition this page is a place where the topic of discussion is one where you disagree with believers. It is then hard to foster affinity when the majority of interactions are of a conflicting nature and the remoteness of online written communication often means people can be blunt and scathing - as opposed to real life where there are multiple touch-points most of which are not directly related to religion and those that are are tempered by physical presence. On another site and topic page where you don't know the belief system of people you will likely get on fine with believers albeit maybe won't know that this is the case.

This is a different form of communication from the sort of face-to-face banter that is typical in workplaces.
You are lucky as I am strongly discouraged from engaging in religious conversations at work. It seems that you can be a Christian but just keep quiet about it

Forums are at least party for debate, although it could be a bit less emotional/polite sometimes. Actual meeting folk is about forming relationships and so one has more incentive to be sociable even when someone is spouting stuff you are totally in disagreement with.
