If there is a God, why has such a supposed loving almighty allowed such a tragic event to happen.

Why wouldn't a deity let people do foolish things. If they intervened folk would expect intervention always and get up to the most stupid things knowing there were no consequences. One surely must expect that letting such things happen was inevitable.
Yes, exactly og... and especially likely if no deity exists...

@nailit......I feel sure you expressed, in this thread, surprise that some folk still believe in Adam and Eve. If I am right , I am wondering why it has been removed.

Hans.
It's still there.
This is to do with evil (a horrible thing to happen) not God. We have freewill. God helps us to pick up the pieces when we get it wrong. Not sure if I've phrased this strongly enough.

Sorry nailit... I am due to see my opticion. You did comment at 20.59.

Question Author
@jourdain2.......So your God allows evil to exist when in a position of being all powerful. Please don't tell me that evil is the work of the Devil, when an all powerful being could exterminate the Devil.

Hans.
We have free will, Hans.
What is actually the point in God, if he can't make any difference anyway?
Question Author
@jourdain2.....Is that the best you can say..."We have free will Hans."

It's a bit like parents excusing their children's bad behaviour because of failure to correct their offspring when they misbehave.

Hans.

Hans, "free will" is a useful excuse. That's it x

Well said pixie374

Hans
It literally is the only (convenient) justification for all the evil done, for religious people. What else can they say?
Pixie - Do you not have free will to do good or evil?
Not according to you. No.
Mamyalynne said // why do some expect a being they don't even believe in to hold their hand and stop them being cruel or pick up the pieces when they are.//

nailit said // We don't!//

Theland said, //Good answer Mamya ^^^//

Not a good answer. Nailit’s answer remains valid.

This is a rerun of Andy-Hughes’ recent bizarre thread.
Of course, theland. Anything I do- good or bad- is entirely down to me. What is your point?
I acknowledged Nailit's reply.
Question Author
Once again Mamyalynne you are confusing me because you feel my question was pointless... you agree with Theland and now you appear to support Nailit's point of view.

Hans.
Gods not loving, hateful ,good or evil. Gods a god not human
