With the UK heading towards being a Muslim country by 2050 (probably before). Which of these alternatives would you prefer to live under?
The choice though, as things stand, appears to be hypothetical, I'm afraid.

I'm not answering for Retro but a belief in God has been likened to mental illness on more than one occasion.
Atheism as well,
emmie, when I first joined this site I was constantly assured that the country would have a majority of Muslims by 2020 and sharia law would be in place.

I'm deeply surprised that it doesn't seem to have happened yet. How could people get it so wrong?
Atheist, to answer you - yes they do - not all but a quick look through R&S should show you.
i still don't like the fact we have 3 million, considering that the Jewish population is only around 250 thousand, heaven help us if there is a war..... who would they fight for..
Sharia law is in places, don't know how many courts but it's alive and kicking..
Mamy; whatever you say I do treat with respect. I haven't checked out historical atheist comments. At least, though, they don't condemn religious believers to eternal damnation.
It might be, Emmie, but it has no standing in UK law.
That does seem to go both ways, tbf, mamya. There doesn't seem a clear divide with personalities and religion.
No, I haven't seen anyone do that and I certainly wouldn't do that either , live and let live is my motto and am not big on mockery. As Ummmm says, to be told you are mentally ill or sick in the head or as once told to me 'a child abuser' (as my children and grandchildren attend/ed RC Schools) is quite bad enough.

My earlier link to an image was purely something that mildly amused me some years ago and not my message to non believers.
if a woman can be divorced by her Muslim husband just by attending a Sharia court, then that is wrong.
It may well work both ways for some Pixie but hopefully I have never been so crass.

I'm sure if I have someone will point me at it.
No, I didn't mean you personally, mamya x
Emmie - can't they get divorced without attending court? I thought quite a few Muslim marriages weren't even legal in this country as they hadn't been registered.
if you read the link ummm it gives some chilling info.
Atheism.
Emmie, people married only in Islamic ceremonies can seek divorce through Sharia courts but if they are married in a registry office the marriage is legal and in order to divorce they must go through the legal channels just like everyone else. Many are never married in legally recognised ceremonies.
Naomi, indeed..
By the way, seeking divorce through Sharia courts is more difficult for women. Who’d a guessed? ;o)
