… under pressure from LGBTQ+ campaigners who say statements Graham had made were incompatible with their values, and that his appearance would be divisive, could be disruptive or lead to a breach of the peace. His lawyers are trying to reverse the decision.

Franklin Graham is the son of US evangelist Billy Graham.

I'm sure he can shout anything he likes, dougie? That doesn't make him not responsible for the consequences though.
Naomi’s absence is rather odd

Zacs, I posted this at 18.01. Nothing odd to me about anyone not being glued to AB all evening.
What's your view on it Naomi?
Question Author
His opinions are incompatible with their values - their opinions are incompatible with his - so which takes priority? Neither, in my opinion. Furthermore, who is qualified to decide which takes priority? No one.

He should be allowed to speak. Silencing the opposition stifles discussion and hence, is not conducive to education.

That's my view on it.
That’s all I wanted. If you notice, several hours have passed since my initial comment. Why anyone would be concerned about some snowflakes trying to prevent some bigot from speaking is beyond me .
Let him speak, the people have the power to protest with their feet. If nobody goes to his "show", then happy days.
Exactly, mozz
Muslim hate preachers' views are incompatible with ours, and ours with theirs. Should they also be allowed to speak?

According to his website he //preached to live audiences of 210 million people in more than 185 countries and territories through various meetings//
up to the venues whether they want to host him, I suppose.

If they're not inciting people to commit atrocities, yes. And listening is imperative.
Naomi, if those figures are true, why is he bothered about the liddle ole UK gigs?

I suspect this has less to do with freedom of speech and a n awful lot more to do with his bank account.
Question Author
And you'd probably be right.
That's a fair point Naomi. The difference is, he's not saying they're against god so go and kill them, he's just saying they're against god.

I guess the Christian god is big enough to look after himself. He doesn't need humans running around murdering each other on his behalf. He's happy to wait a few years and deal with them later.
Question Author
Something like that.
Who knows. They're all nutters.
I remember Franklin's dad Billy having one of his 'Crusade' things at Villa park August 1984 ( no, I wasn't there ) 200,000 attendance if I remember rightly inside and outside the ground. I'll bet he made a few quid there.

Looks like Sir Cliff who was with him at Villa Park.

I do detest tripe; however, if I was, for some unfathomable reason, forced to chose between the two, I would unhesitatingly chose that which was spouted by the Graham mob over that coming from the LGBTQ mob.
Question Author
Haaaaaaa! Funnily enough so would I, sanmac. :o)
