A Bit Of A Hiatus But Finally Done It

A bit of a hiatus (lockdown, work, personal things etc) but finally read the Bible all the way through, again!
How on earth can anybody read this mess and believe its the word of (any) God is beyond me.
Read about a 3rd of it and left of for a bit. (TBH the unrelenting slaughter was getting to me a bit) Picked up again and read whole books at a time. The contradictions alone had me questioning, never mind the bloodshed etc (That was before I got to the new Testament).
Then the New Testament accounts doent agree with each other.
I tried.
The bible is a crock.
Different books, Different authors, different theologies.

Modern church...
We'll try to reconcile them all and call it the bible...

I tried the Q'ran(English translation) and found it baffling because of contradictions (stuff like God is all-merciful and loving and will slay and damn those who disagree.) I think it (like the bible) requires a lot of cherry-picking in order to make it fit into the prejudices of the reader (or those of the holy righteous teacher of religion).

It was sick the first time that I read it cover to cover and its still sick the second time. (despite praying for it not to be so!)
Most christians have no idea what it contains.

It's 66 different books written by many different authors. I think as a whole the Bible hangs together remarkably well.
The whole of the Old Testament is preparation for the coming of Jesus.
The New Testament is all about the new covenant God has made with mankind through Jesus.
As with any book not everyone will like it, but if you are looking for a book which describes the true nature of mankind and the true character of God, the Bible is it

The God of the Bible is a nutter. If the TRUE character of God is revealed in the Bible then count me out thanks. He's a prick, war-monger, sadist, genocidelist, homophobic, sadist!

Id rather walk into hell willingly than worship that monstrosity.
