A bit of a hiatus (lockdown, work, personal things etc) but finally read the Bible all the way through, again!
How on earth can anybody read this mess and believe its the word of (any) God is beyond me.
Read about a 3rd of it and left of for a bit. (TBH the unrelenting slaughter was getting to me a bit) Picked up again and read whole books at a time. The contradictions alone had me questioning, never mind the bloodshed etc (That was before I got to the new Testament).
Then the New Testament accounts doent agree with each other.
I tried.
The bible is a crock.
Different books, Different authors, different theologies.

Modern church...
We'll try to reconcile them all and call it the bible...
Good luck with that one.

Try kindness and understanding, Theland. It would fit better with your master’s teachings.
Do I fail?
Theland - // Do I fail? //

It's that ripe smell of brning martyr again ...
Yes meeting you would be great.
It would have to be at my home as now disabled.
Yes maybe we have much in common.
Maybe.
Interesting to find out.
I'll let you into a secret.
Every night I pray for my family, ( they really need it,) but also for three other people.
Frazer, you, and Naomi.
There, I've said it.
Tin hat on now.
Expecting flak.

You pray for me (and others) whilst at the same time wishing eternal punishment and everlasting and unendurable
torment for us unless we agree with you?

Sort your own moral code out first mate before lecturing others.
You agree that its moral to stone women to death because they dont bleed on their wedding night. (purely because the bible says so)

I dont care who you pray for, you are one sick individual with a sick moral code. Dont pray for me, I dont need the prayers of someone who defends the 'morality' of the bible. Im more humane than that sick backward, bronze age tome written by nomadic immorral, misogynistic dessert dwellers who had no more understanding of life than the sheep that they kept.

You pray for me, and I'll think for you.
Theland, don't take the animosity here too seriously.
Atheist - I assure you, it hurts.
I have never wished eternal damnation on anybody, or stoning to death of anybody.
How silly.
I DARE you to YouTube Ravi Zacharias, one of the greatest Christian apologists I have ever heard, and see if his messages cause you any offence.
Please?

No secret. You've said it all before. I can’t imagine what you’re praying for for me. Just more sanctimonious flannel advertising your beneficence. Seen it all before.
Having established once again how Christianity and Christian practices, (ie prayer), upsets so many, and leaving a thread is called, ''flouncing,'' I think it is indeed time to, ''flounce,'' and let tne, '' Mutual Admiration Society,'' get on with their backslapping and self worship.
Who's Frazer ?
Tambos son.
He has been hospitalised for months.
Ok thank you.

Makes them feel good about themselves naomi...praying for the sinner etc, loving the downtrodden or whatever (or whoever) they see as beneath themselves. Poor sinners that we are!

Tambo's son is a tragedy. My heart goes out. (atheists have a heart some might be surprised to learn) but no amount of 'faith' or prayers are going to make a tragic situation any better.
Modern medical practice might but prayer? Never.
Nevertheless, Tambo's situation has me near tears...I cant imagine the anguish etc but prayer wont do jack.
Medical intervention and heartfelt warmth might (and I DO feel for you Tambo) alliviate your pain somewhat , as is the fact that others think of you, but no amount of religiousity will.
Just as God cant heal an amputee (no record ever of a limb been regrown back) He cant heal my mum of terminal cancer either, despite the prayers of lots of christian friends.

My heart goes out to Tambo's son.
Prayers are unheard.
See this is where I disagree with Nails. The act of a believer praying for someone doesn't offend or upset me in the slightest. If they are a true believer in their God, they think the act of prayer may well help. Although spiritually, I think it's folly, I recognise it as a thoughtful and kind act, and I would appreciate it if it was afforded to me.

Where exactly do you disagree with me mozz?
Id made it abundantly clear that I have christian friends that pray for me?
Buy another book.
