What Would It Take To Convince You Otherwise

As a young, ex fundamental, evangelical Christian, what led me out of faith was an (albeit reluctant) admission that I was simply wrong. After years of wrestling with doubts, questions, voracious reading, Bible study, prayer, etc I simply had to admit that my faith was misplaced and I had NO evidence for my beliefs. I had to accept that I was wrong on so many levels.

SO...what would it take to convince you (if you are religious) that *YOU* may be wrong?

(Conversley....just to be fare...what would convince an atheist that THEY may be wrong)?

sevenOP. Sorry you find Benjamin, "full of assumptions and personal interpretations on multiple issues," who isn't ?
We find him quite interesting & so do many others - he has had to date 304 million views!

I think what he & many others who are part of the burgeoning group who are taking a new look at the importance of religion within society is articulating, could be analogous to someone living in a house with several problems, say, a leak in the roof, a few broken windows & a door or two of its hinges. That person can either fix those problems or carry on living with them, or could remove them completely by burning the house down, which would definitely deal with those annoying issues, but then there would be just one big problem - no home!

Still, there's always the garden shed.

(what would convince an atheist)

Torah@ A good brian to distinguish. It say. “Solid food belongs to mature people, to those who through use have their perceptive powers trained to distinguish both right and wrong.” (Heb. 5:14

(There is nothing admirable in your philosophy)True Naomi

Definition: The word philosophy is derived from Greek roots that mean “love of wisdom.” As used here, philosophy is not built on acceptance of belief in God, but it tries to give people a unified view of the universe and endeavors to make them critical thinkers. It employs chiefly speculative means rather than observation in a search for truth.

Just so in your case, Goodlife.
Have to be a miracle and then I doubt I would be convinced.
Theland, your answer, " If you say so", completely misses the point. I've quoted what you have said and if you want people to accept you're serious in your beliefs you have to stop contradicting yourself. I appreciate that is difficult as the Bible itself is full of contradictions.
It is the same with sin. Adam sinned and as he is the father of all mankind, he passed on to all mankind - Romans 5 verse 1

That is my belly laugh for the day.

Surely no sane person could believe that.
// Have to be a miracle and then I doubt I would be convinced.//

erm - we have covered the 'if you do not believe the word of the son of god - what makes you believe miracles bit' - John Chaps 1 - 3 if you want the ext ref - see above

and that is the message of Dives and Lazarus ( no not dead Lazza, the other one - live Lazza)

but heigh ho - one miracle for each saint - so there are thousands to choose from

( yes no - not those miracles - a miracle for me)
I make romans 5 , 1 to be

Romans 5:1 opens a new section in Paul's letter. ... The Lord delivered up; His people justified; the Lord risen again, alive for evermore – here was matter for love, joy, and wonder".

different messages - I am ROman Catholic
(That is my belly laugh for the day.
Surely no sane person could believe that. sparklykid @ It must be for you becuse all medical field believe that true.
After deep thought (!), I dont see that we have to speculate what philosophy is on this column as no one is doing any,
There's a lot of Rin-Tin-Tin tho....
Goodlife, //all medical field believe that true. //

Believe what true? That the sins of Adam are passed down the generations? Is that what you're saying?
Surely adam and eve are a myth. Can anyone actually believe they were the first of our species.
Unfortunately they can .... and do, sparkly.
//Can anyone actually believe they were the first of our species.//

Well somebody was.

Is that the Royal 'we' or the Loyal 'we', or a different 'we' Khandro ?

Hitler and PewDiePie had lots of 'views' too, neither are to my taste.
Talking of views Khandro did you watch the Link I posted ?
It would be interesting to hear your 'view' on it. -- I try never to be "full of assumptions" hence I won't assume you will ignore my question Khandro.
In Lak’ech.
seven OP. 'We' is myself & my wife. I haven't seen your video, not out of discourtesy, but because I have an audio problem on my pc & can only watch youtubes on my smart tv at the moment. 'We' shall watch it later, though the title seems to suggest it's about slavery, which isn't this topic.
Benjamin waxes lyrical on Aristotle and Aristotle gets a different interpretation in my Link Khandro.
//Benjamin waxes lyrical on Aristotle and Aristotle gets a different interpretation in my Link //

Aristotle has more devoted readers than even Carl Benjamin, wouldn't you say? As for your man, nobody but you seems to have heard of him.

Actually, I just tried googling, 'Dr Michael Parenti' & all I got was a knee surgeon in Buffalo (come to think of it, whose services I could do with at the moment).
Khandro - // //Can anyone actually believe they were the first of our species.//

Well somebody was. //

If you believe that 'a couple' started the human race, then there is a massive amount of evidence to advise that evolution means that humanity developed from primeval apes, so no 'one couple' can be responsible.

Surely you don't actually believe that Adam And Eve started the human race - do you?
I’d make Romans shorter than that - maybe odds on, but 5/1 seems harsh. Cafflick, eh? I dig with neither foot (amputee joke).
