'Do-Gooder' seems to be a common term of abuse here. What do you think of Jesus's attitude?

Naomi has pointed out (on another post)that Jesus wasnt all he is cracked up to be.
As a young, evangelical christian, I was surprised to read the gospels and to see Jesus in a different light than the jesus that I was been taught about.
Many years later, I reread the gospels and see the jesus of the gospels as a complete loony.
How's Mum Nailit?

Thanks for asking,
But basically no idea...shes stuck on a ward and they wont answer the bloody phone...
Ill post on another thread anyway and this is Atheists thread...
We use the term '' do-gooder,'' to describe somebody who is more concerned with the perpetrator rather than the victim.
So no. That was not Jesus.

Theland; what's a 'do-badder'?
I suppose it depends on which version of the story tale you believe in.
Surely a do-badder would be the perpetrator ?
My father was an atheist but knew the bible inside out. He thought Jesus might have been some sort of faith healer.
//We use the term '' do-gooder,'' to describe somebody who is more concerned with the perpetrator rather than the victim. //

Sometimes but not always. Do-gooders are often no more than interfering busybodies more concerned with enhancing their own reputation for altruism than for anything else.

No, Jesus wasn't a do-gooder.

Naomi, you seem to be defining 'do-gooder' in such a way that we are losing what could be a useful term to describe someone who...well...does good.
Atheist, you're getting mixed up. Theland did that. See 20:59 Sun. The 'do-gooders' I mentioned, although interfering busybodies have been known to be successful in their efforts.
I've always understood Do-Gooder to be a derogatory term. The word Angel is a word I hear used a lot to describe someone who helps others.
// My father was an atheist but knew the bible inside out. He thought Jesus might have been some sort of faith healer.//

Isn't that the basis of the Spiritualist Chruch? that Jesus was a Faith Healer and Psychic?

Sorry, Naomi. You're quite right.
Was Jesus a Do-gooder, well, according to the Online Dictionary,
Do Gooders are described as “naive idealists who support philanthropic or humanitarian causes or reforms.
This was not Jesus. He did not support causes. His cause was that of God's Kingdom not worldly reforms. John 17 v 16
"This was not Jesus. He did not support causes."

Yes he was all me me me and thinking he was something special from what I remember. Self-centred loon.
idiosyncrasy, //He did not support causes//

I think he supported one cause - to rid the land of the Romans.

Naomi you don't know history then,or the Bible.
You're reading the wrong bits, goodlife.
Naomi /I think he supported one cause - to rid the land of the Romans/
I think you got that wrong - again.
Jesus was not out to get rid of anyone.
Read John 6 v 14 & 15.

And a "ho ho ho" to you
