Was God An Alien?

I’ve taken this from another area of AB because I’ve been asked a question on the subject and I prefer to discuss it here.

I think it entirely possible that aliens visited earth thousands of years ago and because of their advanced technology, were mistaken by the primitive earthlings for supernatural gods. Ancient texts from around the globe, including the bible, carry accounts of flying vehicles, and unfathomable structures as well as artifacts, drawings, etc., which appear to represent that which would have astonished the people of the day, but are now easily recognisable, are plentiful.

Atheist said on the other thread: //I'm surprised that you might rely on ancient writings. artworks and constructions. Could you perhaps expand and maybe explain the difference between your ideas and Theland's?//

... and to answer him, there is no correlation between my suspicions and Theland’s faith. I look at texts - the bible included - and being fully aware that technology was non-existent at the time those texts were written, simply ask what the authors were attempting to describe, My conclusion can only be the presence on earth of a far more technologically advanced race of people who came here from elsewhere.

This is a subject I’ve studied for very many years and one that I find absolutely fascinating. Let me know what you think. I’ve got my tin hat on. ;o)

Naomi, it seems to me that none of these so-called aliens have ever given us any info on science we didn't already know about. Unless you read about Jean-Pierre Petit and happen to credit his opinions with having plausibility. At least he does talk about futuristic science.

Oh really, atheist? Ok.
Naomi; I thought you might be interested, unless you prefer ancient texts.
Re the aqueduct, the Romans had discovered concrete so structures like this, impressive though it is, arent signs of anything more of mans ingenuity.
* more than man's ingenuity
Naomi it is indeed a fascinating subject.

Do look up Michael Tellinger. He is far better thanVan Dineken imho.

In the bible there are so many things that might (?) indicate extra terrestrials- and that doesn’t influence my belief as a Christian.

Naomi thinks aliens are more likely than a genesis creation

( checks, not April 1 st - but must be AB )

Well, no one can say that AB isn’t diverse. From Douglas in wonderful Bob and Vic mode, to Nailit who prefers, for once, to put the messenger under the microscope rather than the message, to Atheist who feigns interest but introduces a nincompoop that he thinks no one has heard of so it makes him look rather smart, to Eve who is honest - and bringing up the rear as always, Peter Pedant, who hasn’t a clue, and hasn't as it appears actually lost the plot because he never had it in the first place. A fascinating study.

Goodness knows what will transpire here tomorrow. I’m all agog. :o)
Naomi, forgive me saying so, but you're rather judgmental. You accuse me of feigning interest just so that I can show off. That's not in the spirit of AB's reputation for intelligent and polite discussion, is it?
And I dont know where I have put the messenger under the microscope either?
Question Author
Atheist, //Naomi, forgive me saying so, but you're rather judgmental.//

Frank observation is one of my many perceived faults.

Nailit, //And I dont know where I have put the messenger under the microscope either?//

Here:

//Having read Von Danikan, and others, I must admit that there sources leave a little to be desired.//

… which leaves me with the idea that you have little time for the messengers but no indication of your thoughts on the general theory.

Haha! Now you're talking! And people wonder why God was so reluctant to show his face! :o)
Some seem prepared to cling forever to promises made in ages past. Other choose finally to move on in search of a brighter future.
Question Author
And according to Steven Hawking that’s exactly what we will be doing in the future. Just imagine, if we find a suitable life supporting planet and arrive to find it inhabited by a primitive population we could be treated as Gods! Now there’s a thought. ;o)
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space
'Cause it's *** all down here on Earth
I think it is a fascinating subject, naomi, and one I have toyed with generally. I get into deep and so far unexplored waters - needs a lot of thought and prayer. Who is to say that God did not visit this earth, which he loved, in the guise of ancient visitors?
// Peter Pedant, who hasn’t a clue, and hasn't as it appears actually lost the plot because he never had it in the first place//

excuse me - we are talking about green eyed lizard men?

who was it who said on another thread -- hahahahaha I am laughing so much I am going to bust a gut? - why I think it was Naomi !

I most Certainly have lost the lizard men plot and you can quote me again !- - - have fun
who was it who said Islam covers more than its share of crayzies ?
