Was God An Alien?
44 Answers
I’ve taken this from another area of AB because I’ve been asked a question on the subject and I prefer to discuss it here.
I think it entirely possible that aliens visited earth thousands of years ago and because of their advanced technology, were mistaken by the primitive earthlings for supernatural gods. Ancient texts from around the globe, including the bible, carry accounts of flying vehicles, and unfathomable structures as well as artifacts, drawings, etc., which appear to represent that which would have astonished the people of the day, but are now easily recognisable, are plentiful.
Atheist said on the other thread: //I'm surprised that you might rely on ancient writings. artworks and constructions. Could you perhaps expand and maybe explain the difference between your ideas and Theland's?//
... and to answer him, there is no correlation between my suspicions and Theland’s faith. I look at texts - the bible included - and being fully aware that technology was non-existent at the time those texts were written, simply ask what the authors were attempting to describe, My conclusion can only be the presence on earth of a far more technologically advanced race of people who came here from elsewhere.
This is a subject I’ve studied for very many years and one that I find absolutely fascinating. Let me know what you think. I’ve got my tin hat on. ;o)

From Douglas in wonderful Bob and Vic mode, to Nailit who prefers, for once, to put the messenger under the microscope rather than the message, to Atheist who feigns interest but introduces a nincompoop that he thinks no one has heard of so it makes him look rather smart, to Eve who is honest - and bringing up the rear as always, Peter Pedant, who hasn’t a clue, and hasn't as it appears actually lost the plot because he never had it in the first place. A fascinating study.
Goodness knows what will transpire here tomorrow. I’m all agog. :o)

Atheist, //Naomi, forgive me saying so, but you're rather judgmental.//
Frank observation is one of my many perceived faults.
Nailit, //And I dont know where I have put the messenger under the microscope either?//
Here:
//Having read Von Danikan, and others, I must admit that there sources leave a little to be desired.//
… which leaves me with the idea that you have little time for the messengers but no indication of your thoughts on the general theory.
