Goodlife, //So you can't be really happy without serving God. //

How can you possible presume to know whether or not other people are happy? You can't.
*possibly*
I can sense one or two people on this thread are not very happy within themselves, - no names, no pack-drill.
You shouldn't rely too heavily on your sense, Khandro. It's liable to lead you astray.
For me:

The Bible has no importance in my life (and yes I have read it).

And it certainly doesnt affect my life apart from being accosted by bible thumpers in the street or when I have to set the dogs on the JW's that wont go away at the front door.
One first thing that Jesus focused on is especially important: “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the Kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.” (Matt. 5:3) How do we show that we are conscious of that need? We do so by taking in spiritual food, cherishing spiritual values, and giving priority to worshipping the of happy God. If we take those steps, our happiness will grow. We will strengthen our faith in the coming fulfillment of God’s promises. And we will be encouraged by “the happy hope” that God’s Word provides for true worshippers.—Titus 2:13.
Goodlife, If that’s what you want and need do it, but understand that it isn’t necessarily what others want - or need.
Goodlife // Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need//

I'd agree with that, a broad definition of 'spiritual' applied.

I'd also add that happier are those that understand that they are free to pursue spiritual fulfilment and inner peace via whatever means they feel drawn to, and not just the one they are threatened with bad things happening if they don't do what they are told.
No one can live by the teachings of Jesus.
And no one does!

Who takes no care for tomorrow?
(no pensions or morgateges?)

Who handles snakes or drinks poisen?

stupidity at its best.
Happiness is a green light. Anyone who is happy all the time is emotionally depraved.

That now makes 3 that I know of on AnswerBank of who claim to have "read the bible"; the other two being Andy Hughes & TTT.

I most certainly haven't read it in its entirety, so I remain in awe.
Yes the Bible was not written for nothing, it can help people to get a Better life. Now you take money what does the Bible say about money, at 1 Timothy 6 ; 9-10 Says "But those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge men into destruction and ruin. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things and by reaching out for this love some had been led astray from the faith and stab themselves all over with many pains.
Now the Bible at Matthew 6 says it all, but in verse 33 it says, Keep on seeking first the Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added. So never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Each day has enough of its own troubles.

So what can you learn here? Jesus said that those who put God’s Kingdom first will have what they need, such as food and clothing. (Matthew 6:25, 31, 32) However, he did not promise luxuries, nor did he indicate that God’s blessing would be measured by material wealth. In fact, Jesus warned his listeners against the pursuit of riches, which can actually make it harder to seek first the Kingdom. (Matthew 6:19, 20, 24)

And before you jump, to a conclusion. The Bible says that Christians should work to support themselves and their families.( 1 Timothy 5:8) Jesus did not say that his followers should seek only the Kingdom; rather, he said that they should seek the Kingdom first.

Then you can never argue from a position of strength then, can you, which is tricky for someone as obsessed with making everyone believe like you as you are.

And I don't 'claim' to have read the bible, so please don't use my name to cast aspersions during your own ramblings.
AH //And I don't 'claim' to have read the bible, so please don't use my name to cast aspersions during your own ramblings.//

Oh yes you have, & within the last few weeks when I asked you directly that question.
I assume that you have forgotten, as you wouldn't be lying would you?
Khandro - I don't 'claim' to have read the bible, the term implies that my position may be incorrect.

I have stated, not claimed, that I have read the bible, because I have, and no, I would not be lying.
AH: You said you had 'read the bible', I didn't suggest you were lying, not many could make that claim though; i.e. reading everything in the OT from Genesis to Malachi & all the NT from Matthew to Revelation - getting on for 1,500 pages of small type in my edition.

It all doesn't seem to have done you much good though ! :0)
Khandro - // It all doesn't seem to have done you much good though ! :0) //

I think quite the opposite, but I would, wouldn't I.
Goodlife seems like a mindless moron. All he/she does is put quotes from a ridiculous fiction book from unknown origins as some sort of proof.

35 yrs ago, I would have appeared the same as an evangelical Christian....
My feelings are mixed on this one.
On the one hand I cant help but feel some compassion for the person that gets swept up into a ridiculous belief system. Or contempt for the person that refuses to accept evidence of their own delusion.
I have friends (who are Fundie type Christians)
who really cant stand talking about the finer points of their faith
(Like eternal torment and hell etc)
ALL of these friends have lost loved ones who are unbelievers but just cant stand to hear about the hell that they 'believe' in.

Find it a bit weird tbh.
Why wouldnt you want to talk about ur faith.
Especially when you bought it up in the first place....
