Well, it’s mildly better than Morrisey. But that’s not saying much.

Zacs: First heard this smoking dope in Kentucky 52 years ago, & it still brings a tingle. :0)
I'm not sure the band are entirely serious here!
Nothing like music to bring back the old memories, K. You old rascal.
Question Author
Andy, last time I looked, Commander Cody was still touring. And yes it is serious, - this is the South man!
Another favourite track on that album is in a different vein though;

"My Daddy said son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if ya don't stop drivin' that hot-rod Lincoln".
'Oh boy! is right! That's chronic! I could only stand a little bit of it so in an effort to extend a smidgeon of Christian kindness and protect other ears from that travesty, here, for anyone interested, are the lyrics.

There’s A Family Bible On The Table,
It’s Pages Torn And Hard To Read.
But The Family Bible On The Table,
Will Always Be My Key To Memory.
I Can See Us Sitting Round The Table
When From The Family Bible Dad Would Read.
And I Can Hear My Mother Softly Singing,
Rock Of Ages, Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me.
At The End Of Day When Work Was Over,
And The Evening Meal Was Done.
Dad Would Read To Us From The Family Bible,
And We Would Count Our Many Blessings One By One.
This Old World Of Ours Is Full Of Trouble,
This Old World Would So Much Better Be.
If We Had More Bibles On The Table,
And Mothers Singing Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me.
Question Author
naomi. that's a stupid thing to do.
Why? Since others seem about as impressed with the rendition as I was, I thought it was helpful.

Or did you post solely for the musical performance - the lyrics being irrelevant?
Question Author
what was your motivation?
I told you.
Question Author
Sounds like a pretty screwed up thing to do. Even Andy & Zacs listened to what was a bit of late night light-hearted divertissement.
The singing was dire. I didn't want to listen to it so I looked up the lyrics to find out what it's about and posted them here for anyone else who couldn't stand to listen to it. Let's face it, Khandro, no one seems that impressed with it. What's screwed up about that?

Mamya (bless) did her, 'night song' hosting hundreds & hundreds of videos of all sorts of levels & qualities - did you ever once go so far as to take the trouble to search out the lyrics post them because you didn't like them?
Answer, no. So why this?
I didn't listen to them - and I've told you why.
Khandro, you seem to suspect some ulterior motive but goodness knows why. I haven't commented on the lyrics. I've just posted them for information.
According to Wikipedia, "George Frayne IV, alias Commander Cody (born July 19, 1944 in Boise, Idaho, died September 26, 2021"
Question Author
Corby; Thanks for that, I didn't know he'd 'gone on'.
So he was still touring with the band well into his seventies. There was a website I once looked up where you could track their venues across the states, a much-loved group.
