Weighing Yourself Accurately.

What is the most accurate way to weigh oneself? The reason I ask is because I remember years ago I was working in a health centre, so they're would have been 6 or 7 different doctor's offices.
At the time I remember I weighed myself in each office just out of interest and there was up to a 7lb difference between some of those sets of scales.
Also, my wife does an exercise class in which they get weighed. Her weight they're compared to our house scales is about 1.5 lb.
Furthermore, my mother has the same scales as we do, but there is a 2-3 lb difference between those when you weigh yourself on them.
So how can you actually get an accurate reading of your true weight?

I think the best way to look at it is that you monitor your weight to see if it is rising or falling. Use the same scales very time you weigh yourself. The actual weight within a few pounds is not important.

I'm no expert. :-)
^ I agree with Atheist. Buy a decent set of digital scales, use them on a hard surface at the same time each day...that's the best you can do domestically. It's the change of weight (up or down) that's important...not the precise weight of your body.
Bit late seeing this.
The most accurate one I have found is the doggie scales at my local vet practice
But how did you know they were accurate?
Haras2,
But there wouldn't be many dogs weighing near 14st, so those scales wouldn't do to weigh me.
At our dog shows we weigh Miniature Dachshunds and we have to get the scales calibrated before a show. The local council provide this service or scales providers will do it for you at a cost.
Vet scales weigh up to 300 kgs!
Was it trading standards used to check the scales in shops?
I enquired (very politely) and was told that they were checked weekly against a standard weight.

Perhaps you should try your nearest Zoo :-))
Proper balance scales, like they use in boxing is the only way. Strain gauge scales are notoriously variable.
Use the same scales once a week, not daily.
ahh but haras, how do they know the weight they use is accurate?
