Being female I don't think that I would enjoy living in or visiting Dubai. However, I did find some of the things on this list interesting. I admit that I got bored before the end of the list.
I was there about 10 years ago, I think. The local paper was celebrating an anniversary: 40 years since the first paved road. It's come a long way in a short time.

it is a place that looks modern, and clean and a nice place to live in. But it is all glitz and gold with no signs that they plan to move into the same century as the rest of the civilised world.
I accepted that some countries treated their women badly as they knew no better. But Dubai and its ruler should know better.
That said I noticed the bit about having a Tiger as a pet or a Lion as a guard 'dog'. ☺
Rocky, I fully agree! You would spend all your time worrying if showing your fringe/feet/knees is going to land you in jail or, even, get you decapitated.
highly unlikely in Dubai: they like a bit of modesty, but being awash with foreign visitors they're not going to lock you up for showing your hair or having a drink in a restaurant. You might find a harsher line in Sharjah, which is sort of Saudi Junior.
