A spire a(isle) ?

No other help then, PiffPoff?

Question Author

No other takers. I still don't see where the 2nd A comes from in your explanation as it's not in the clue.

Perhaps someone else will see this and have an answer for you.

Do you have bad egg for 14ac? If so, why?

I have no real parsing for 28.

Tilly2, 14 is Bade, ordered and GG, horse. Hound, bad egg, bad guy....

Ah! Thank you, NAC. I was thinking of hound as a verb rather than as a noun.

Tiily2, glad I could help with that one. I gave up on the other one, coming up with nothing! It's only Fire's second puzzle, so maybe just an error (overlooked by the Crossword Editor).
