Blessed are the Meek?

For they shall inherit the Earth. Did Jesus say this? And does anyone know when it's actually going to happen because I haven't seen much evidence of it since it was first uttered. I'm prepared to live my life meekly but I'd like a bit more assurance that I will inherit the earth.

slimjim you've hit on catch 22. In order to be truly meek, you have to put away all thought of rerward and be meek for the sake of it...One little non meek thought like oh boy I hope I'm the meekest and don't have to share and you might as well not have bothered. According to the bible, Jesus did say this in the sermon on the mount. the blessed bit not the oh boy bit

The way I heard it, it was "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth, if that's all right with the rest of you."

Just try to imagine what the inheritance tax would be. If you ask me, it's all a scam.

i suspect if you've inherited the earth then you're ina position to get rid of the inland revenue and avoid inheritance tax that way...but wouldn't the meek just pay it without moaning? this question is getting a bit too deep for me
