Concerning "celebrate" I think this is possible: 1.Most priests are supposed to celebrate Mass once a day. 2.We celebrate Mass every Sunday. 3. I attend (or go to)Mass every Sunday. But,is it correct if I, as not a priest, say I celebrate Mass every Sunday? In other words, can you say "I celebrated 9 o'clock Mass this Sunday" instead of " I went to 9 o'clock Mass this Sunday"? Thank you for your attention.
You need a Catholic or an Anglo-Catholic to give the definitive answer to this question mankak, but this is my idea.
Mass/Eucharist/Communion is always a celebration wherever and whenever you have it, so I see no reason for not using the word 'celebrate'....... but, that is 'church language' as used by a priest, so in the context that you mentioned - 'I went '- would be the correct choice.
