Question their sweeping statements with logical argument and they disappear completely until something else comes up. If they're so sure of their subject, why don't they answer?

No, the Bible is the ultimate authority, for me.
Naomi - Jesus is God, as the New Teatament tells us. The mystery of the trinity, accepted in faith by Christians.

Theland - please tell me where the New Testament says that. I'd like to check the text out - and it's sources.

And Theland - if Jesus is god, why would he pray to god? That makes no sense. He'd be talking to himself.
Read the gospel of John.

Theland, don't make me read it all again. Just tell me where.
John 1:1 States that Jesus, the Word, was with God and is God.
John 3:16 give authority to Jesus that is on a par with God.
Theland, the use of vagaries like "I am sure...must have.." shows how shallow your thinking is. It is a historical fact that the Jews once worshipped several gods and, when they decided to go monotheistic, chose JWYH, until then the minor god of southern Israel only, to be their sole 'God'. This is the God of your bible, the one that the 1st commandment orders you to worship exclusively. I know that it's irritating for you when historical facts interefere with your cosy beliefs but history will not conveniently shape itself to your wishes.
chakka35 - I am truly amazed at myself! For one who is such a shallow thinker, I still manage to tie my own shoe laces, cross the road on my own, and I'm toilet trained.
But, that aside, despite struggling through my day with obviously less than 50% of my thought processes functioning, the Bible remains a reliable source of prophetic writings regarding Israel, and its influence far outweighs other books, like the Argos catalogue for example.
But thanks again.
What an extraordinary post, that last one! Sorry that only 50% of your thought processes are functioning.
That explains a lot.
chakka35 - Honestly, I was not aware until now that I was a "shallow thinker."
Thanks for drawing my attention to it.
chakka35 - The tone of my last two posts were sarcastic and offensive.
I have no excuse for bad manners, and I apologise to you most sincerely.
Your posts are always valued.

Theland: I've checked, and what you say is there simply isn't. John 1.1 doesn't mention Jesus - and John 3.16 talks about god giving his only begotten son. Mmmmm .... got a sneaking suspicion you're translating again to make it suit your purpose.

Got to go - the great god Tesco awaits!
Hi,

I think you have every excuse for being sarcastic and badly mannered Theland. Man they give you a hard time. What gives? I doubt they'd be quite so sure of themselves if the questions were flying there way. Why are they so interested about errors in the bible if they say they don't believe it? Have you asked yourself that?

Hi Tom, none of us would be debating this if we weren't sure of our answers - Theland included - and we all have different opinions. It is possible to have a deep interest in something without believing it's all true you know. I'm interested in it mainly from an historical viewpoint, and subjects like Greek mythology interest me too, but that doesn't mean I believe it all. And, honestly, we're not that hard on Theland - he enjoys all this as much as we do, otherwise he wouldn't get involved, and at the end of the day there's plenty of good natured banter and very little animosity.

Mani: I don't think so.
Welcome Tom - look forward to your input.
Tom...you obviously dont know Theland too well. He activly encourages us to insult him http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Q uestion366143.html
We are only too pleased to oblige!
Question Author
As Wiz says we're happy to oblige - but I like him immensely anyway!
Question Author
Maybe I should clarify that last answer - I like Theland immensely anyway. Of course, that's not to say I don't like Wizard too. Mmmm ... I'm going before I dig myself in deeper here! Night everyone!
Yes Wizard, with your training, I am super thick skinned now - water off the ducks back etc
