Thoughts on Colin Fry
27 Answers
Does anyone watch the Colin Fry programme, where he apparently communicates with people 'passed over'...
What strikes me is how much tradgedy there is and how people suffer. But my question is:
1. Do people believe in this stuff ???
The first few times I watched, it looked quite convincing, even though I'm already familiar with 'cold reading' and other techniques used. But the more I see it, the more fake he looks.
2. Does anyone agree with me???
And 3. Has the programme influenced any beliefs of religion/afterlife etc??

To answer the question directly above and without going off on a tangent.
Joko: where in the above text do you find any reference to Jesus or religion? "Yet YOU believe that one bloke etc etc..
How do you know WE believe this?
You also assume that any trickery used had to be technological. Hypnosis!!! Besides, the example you used is a story in the bible. That in istelf is an entirely different subject.

Joko: Where in the above text to do find reference to Jesus, the stories in the bible or even religion?
You presume WE believe - quote: "Yet YOU believe"
How do you know WE believe?
You also presume that any trickery had to be technological. **Hypnosis*** is the obvious one, there are many more ways to trick people without the use of anything but the power of words.
Anyway you presented a story from the bible, another subject entirely.

ahh, the use of pedantry in order to sidestep the question...
this is in religion and spirituality for a start, and i am not a newbie so i happen to know that a number of the people on this thread do believe in jesus and the bible wholeheartedly.
my apologies for not naming them individually for you - the 'you' was a collective you.
how do you suppose jesus and the bible are a ''different subject entirely...?'' mmm, don't think they are totally different do you...?
so you think jesus was a hypnotist, eh?
probably very likely, but not sure of the point of your post - it amounts to the same thing doesn't it?
people believe what jesus supposedly did was real - not trickery - they are utterly convinced it is truth - yet they dismiss any other form of ''miraculous'' event as trickery and charlatanism, instantly...?
you began your pointless post with ''why do people post irrelevant answers to questions'' - you might want to think about that yourself - at least my post had a point to make - i can see no point to yours other than to pick holes in irrelevant minor details of phrasing and grammar, as opposed to addressing the question.

Joko, I take your point and your response is interesting & informative. I agree, the beliefs as you described do indeed seem contradictory..
I am quite spiritual but I do not believe in god, the bible or any religion, so I have to say to me they do not amount to the same.
I don't think Jesus was an hypnotist, I don't think those 'miricles' took place at all.
One thing is for sure: we don't know where we came from & we for sure as hell don't know where we are going (if anywhere at all)..
Thanks for your input.
