Do you approve of tithing?, that is giving the church a tenth of your wages.
My sister in law over the past year has been drawn into the church, a church we don't approve of and now she says, she is giving the church a tenth of her wages and she earns good money.
She got drawn in when her husband left her and so was vulnerable at the time.
Me, I hate all things religious and I just cannot get through to her.

I find it all a bit dubious to be honest, but in fairness where do the churches make their money otherwise? you may not agree with the whole idea but she is an adult and so all you can do is be supportative of her, should she need it.
It is absolutely none of your business. You should not try to impose your beliefs on her, and if she is getting comfort from this church that is all to the good.

Don't criticise either her or the church - instead spend whatever time you can with her in a positive way, doing fun or supportive things so she is not entirely reliant on the church for friendship or support.

She may withdraw from this church at some point - she may not. Either way it is her choice.
At least her giving them money will mean they wont have to put one of those stupid cash thermometers up

You are right Ethel, it is just she has undergone such a personality change.
Most Saturdays, instead of going shopping, she is now handing out leaflets!!
Still like you say, one day she may leave.
Is it one of the obscure religions ? I know the Mormons give 10% of their income ,and the JW's have to put in some income , like Ethel said just support her , and not let her become brainwashed . That happened to a friends child in the 70's as she became a Moonie , it took years of therapy to get her back . People do strange things when they are vulnerable , sad that the so called church prey on them . I hope all goes well for all of you .
It has been my lifelong contention that 95 per cent of the world's population are a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic. I am arrogant enough to claim that I am part of the 5 per cent. Of the 95 per cent, religious people of all colours must make up the bulk, including the JW's, Morons (not a mispelling), Jews, Muslims, etcl. Remember George Bush and the masses offering prayers following the 9/11 catastrophe .... why? What a joke? What about days gone by and "witches" burnt at the stake, the
Crusades, etc. Jews in Israel are throwing themselves up and down in front of a wall, sticking little messages in the spaces between the bricks! Muslims march around a concrete lump in Meccah. In a village in Italy, the residents walk, annually, through the village with a fibre glass effigy, the patron saint of toothaches. The effigy is draped with non-venomous snakes collected from the countryside. Need I go on? I shall be pilloried for this but what the hell. While some of you are having a go at me others will be getting off the hook. Funnygirl, wholeheartedly agree with you.
