A deity
a canine dyslexic?
According to FedEx it is Guaranteed Overnight Delivery.
"What" do you think reception?
God is THE SPIRIT OF THE UNIVERSE.
(Interpret 'spirit' in any way you like).
Typical Theland evasion, I might say...

The boring answer is that God, like fairies, Santa Claus and the unicorn, is a supernatural being who does magical things and for whose existence there is not a smigeon of evidence.
Everything around you is evidence. Even you, with a free will is evidence. You may not accept it "proves" anything but it is nevertheless, evidence.

There is nothing known to Man that "disproves" anything.
Santa Claus does exist. I saw him in the Co-op in East Ham in 1973.

Got a photo to prove it.
I know this sounds corney but I believe that God is love and God is around us and within us.

I am not a religious person but I believe that when we die we go to somewhere better than this.

God is 'who' not 'what'.....
A word invented by man to satisfy man's need to have an explanation for things that can't be understood - just saves having to think and gives man something to fall back on.
...and atheists not to believe in but blame for everything...
Zeus is God!
yep!
that 'yep!' was in agreement with Octavius.
muchlovex I'm with you on your idea of God, and I think you're absolutely right, but I don't think there's a specific place we go to when we die, although I do believe the soul survives death.

Cetti Hello again. I tend to think that perhaps God is a 'what' rather than a 'who'.
I would agree that God is a 'what' rather than a 'who'. I am actually quite spiritual but do not agree with the concept of 'a God'. I think that we only 'live on' in what we contribute to this earth.
In general you are probably right as the pronoun 'who' is generally used to refer to human beings. If one believes in the Bibilical God of which we are created in His image, then those people would assert a 'who'.

Other gods in other belief systems may well be a 'what'. Particularly the dark and mysterious Turtle god of Winter solstice in the Pleiades. That always makes me go..."what"???
I disagree with all of you.

Gods are a way of blocking out the harsh reality that we are not immortal, they are just a way for us to feel better about ourselves for when our big day comes.

A little like a child with an immaginary friend that keeps them company. All a god does is re-assure us that we will be ok when the big day arrives.

Think about it. If we knew for certain that there was nothing after life then what would we have to live for and why would every one work so hard for the things that they have if we are never going to reap the benifits.

Its just my opinion.
Ashbazz, What an odd argument. If there's nothing left after life, surely life is still worth living to the full. Does that mean if you believe in a God, then you're living to die - and if you don't believe in a God then life isn't worth living?

Incidentally, we work hard to reap benefits in this life. As far as I'm aware, none of us can take it with us.
