If you believe in the basis of Buddhism, how do you actually become a Buddhist?

It is quite simple really, although you are expected to know about the teachings and to have read the sacred texts, as well as understan the rules (no intoxicating drugs etc), generally before you turn up at a temple. This gives some outlines in this respect:
