Question.
Assuming, as is taught in religious circles, that God has always existed, and created absolutely everything, then i'd like to see reasons, why he/she/it created Humans.
Any ideas?,
Thanks.

It's all very well to have created the Universe, galaxies, supernovae, black holes, spiders that live underwater, but at some point you need someone to say Thank You, and to say it spontaneously. This is why God created Man in his own image, a chance for some freethinking spirit to say "Thanks"
Despite concluding that it was good, he nearly had second thoughts later and drowned the lot. But I think it was just the Children of Israel who got the real warnings, being chosen people. If they behaved they were allowed to crush rival tribes.
As for why, the same question could apply to any species at all, or to specific bits such as the appendix, which has always been a mystery to me. I think we just have to accept creation as read without enquiring why he had to create the plague bacillus etc.

If you want to be loved, then it has to be uncontrolled. It's no good creating an environment where you just pull strings and things dance.
Evil is the absence of good. It's not God's fault. Yes I suppose he could wipe it out, but what would be the point? Mankind needs to find goodness off its own bat and then present it to God. I like to think that he would be delighted.

I have to say, Lonnie, we don't have the wonderful, in depth, discussions - or any of the fun - we used to have in R&S, and it's a great pity. Things have certainly changed. We haven't even had a party aboard the ark for ages - and our parties were legendary!! The Loonie Orchestra, trapeze artistes, tap dancers - and me with George Clooney in tow, and the key to the wine cellar in my pocket! Them woz the days!! :o)
God. Perhaps he created us so that we could tell him how very clever he is for creating everything, and worship and adore him. Just one minor snag in that theory. He gave us free will, so a good many of us don't. Aha! But he's got us there, because, boy, are we going to suffer for it!! I'm brilliant so tell me so, or else!! Over-sized ego is right!

About this site. Well I have only been here for about a year and what I noticed is that few people here try to force their views on others so much and spend so much time here that they have accepted this place as their front room so they run the rules. So few people just decided to stay away.
When God created human and angels asked him that why are you creating someone who may create trouble in the land. God said that that He knew what they did not know. So a complete reason no one knows apart from God himself. We can only guess. And my own view is that God created a being that could make his own mind and is not programmed like angels. I know few people say that what sort of free will is this that if you do not agree you are threatened to be punished. But how many people are out there who accept God entirely because they do not want to be punished and have no choice but to accept. If that was the case then there should be no one who would not believe. Free will is to accept or not to accept and people are free enough even to deny the existence of God altogether.

True jno, which is why I specified Humans, as we are the only species, as far as we know, who worship God.
Gormless, God created good and evil, so I would say, if there is a God as depicted in Holy Writings, then it is his fault.
Ahh naomi,
Those parties, yes, no-one joins in now, and George, do you still keep in touch, you had quite a thing there, give him my best wishes, and ask him to return that clockwork train set please, I want to play with it again.
I won't comment on your last bit, your mindset on this is very similar to mine, but your right about those discussions, every time I look on here, there's nothing to discuss, which is why I put this up.

I agree with you, Lonnie. Our discussions used to cover practically every subject under the sun, but the custard pies were usually topped with a generous dollop of good humour, and although the party-goers are still around, that's what's missing now. I'll pass your message on to Gorgeous George - and I still have the keys to the wine cellar - and to China's chastity belt! ;o)
I'll give you a "devil's advocate" answer to keep things alive as long as you're not fooled into thinking im "on the turn"
Time is relative. In the heart of a black hole it is stationary things just exist.
The same must be true of God. He/She/It exists outside of time. To God the moment of creation just exists in the way that the 17th cenury does and the way that the end (whatever that is) does Simply laid out like a ruler on a table in front of you.
God created man in his own image does not mean he "looks" like Charlton Heston - it means we have rational and minds and some degree of self determination - a pale reflection of God's
Why did God create us? Why do we have children? Sometimes for company, to look after us in our old age but best of all sometimes we have children just to give them the chance to exist at all.
That is why God created us - so that we might have the chance to exist.
Well that would be the case if God existed but it's a steaming pile of twaddle no more rational than the tooth fairy
