Ever since the birth of Christ there have been many wars, bigots who assume their religion is best, countless millions dying in the cause and lack of understanding on all sides.

If true that Christ came on Earth 2000 years ago would have it been better for civilisation that he had stayed away?

If you have no belief, then death to you is a complete fullstop, and all this speculation is fruitless.

If Christ came to earth, and walked on water and the other things, then there is at minimum something to think about.

If not, then why bother with anything?

The above link lists current conflicts happening around the world. I've looked through it and cant see many that can be contributed to Christianity.

No doubt this sites relentless anti-christs will find some tenuous link to proportion absolutely every single conflict to Christianity but they obviously have more Googling time than me.

I wonder what we blamed war on BC?
See, the pubs have turned out early.

Have a read of Luke's Gospel, and ask yourself, "is this complete rubbish". Just give it a whirl.

I don't regard this as an anti-christian site but any establishment should have its motives questioned.
Answerbank is not an anti-Christian site, it is just "modern" and "enlightened". This means that anything ridiculing God or Christ is poo-pooed. Anything praising Islam is supported to the hilt, rather surprising when you consider that most of the proponents live in rural Lincolnshire, or Worcester, and have had little experience of hand amputations or strangling gay teenagers at the end of a halter on a crane in public while the crowd chants "Allah is Great" (and most merciful no doubt, but tough sh!te for the kids strangling from the crane)
I wouldn't say it would have been better if he'd stayed away, but it would have been better if those who came after him hadn't turned him into something he wasn't.
I think its not Jesus (pbuh) but people who changed his message and made him someone that he never claimed to be, are to be blamed. When I see people on this website and largely in western countries opposing and denouncing god. I don't usually blame them. Because the picture of god shown to them by Christian missionaries just does not make sense. So people start denying god, but in fact they are not denying god but wrong modelIs of god.

So finally life after Jesus might have been as life before him if people had learnt his real message.
Knobby ...

Your reply at post no. 2 was, erm ... erudite?

I'm still laughing here.
Keyplus, why target Christianity? No religion makes sense - and yes, those who deny God really are denying him. Make no mistake about that.

There were many wars before Christianity and there will be many after it has gone the way of Zeus and Odin.

You also have to bear in mind that Saint Paul and the Emperor Constantine rather left their stamp on Christianity too.

Had there not been a Jesus then Constantine might well have adopted a different religion such as Zoroastrianism and we might well be blaming all the wars on them
Wiz, you may have asked that question with tongue in cheek, but not only was Jesus Muslim - all the biblical prophets were also Muslim.

Gormless

I read the new Stephen King over the weekend, Its a better work of fiction than the gospel of St Luke.

AND before you jump just remember the minimum time after Christ that any part of the New testement was written was 70 years and it was all word of mouth, not written. That is, of course, he was as much the son of god as me.
Wiz - you were right even if you did not mean that and Naomi expalined that. Jesus (pbuh) was Muslim in fact and so were all the other prophets. That is the reason Muslims do not make any distinction nor they refuse any of them. Because Muslim means the one who have total submission to the will of God and I am sure real Jesus (pbuh) did that. I am not really sure about the Jesus few people believe in.

Naomi- you have given me an idea by saying that. And we may start another thread on this subject, What do people really know about god?

Wiz no dont do that, you only have one life, and that is why it is haram (forbidden) in Islam to be disappointed or commit suicide. So dont do that please.
Wiz, happy days. :o)
This religious war, Catholics v Islam, has got to be one of the most terrible and bloodthirsty wars in the names of Jesus and Allah, so I think, in the long run, it'd have been better if God had never been invented, although having said that, with the nature of mankind, other excuses would have been found.
