The meaning of the word Asylum
My understanding of asylum would be, to go to the first country of safety if you are being persecuted in your own country" It's our Benefit system that is luring people here, this morning I see on the News, a long "orderley" queue of immigrants in Calaise, waitng to hide in the back of wagons and containers heading for our shores, and now France say they will build make-shift accomodation to house them while they're waiting!!! Why doesn't bloody France employ people to check their status with their home country and the alleged "fear" of returning there, then if it isn't kosher, send them back as to where they came from, or France could even do this with a joint venture from us, plenty of intelligent unemployed here through no fault of their own, invest in these people and save millions in benefit fraud.

The EU rules say that too! It's about the only useful rule in the EU and the only one we do not seem to be bothered about enforcing. As you can see from the question none of our resident EUphiles had and explanation either!

surely not our open palm immigration policy the prime attraction of our pleasant land?
the dublin rules are clear in that asylum seakers pitch up at the first country where they can avoid their persecution,
unless there is a major problem with torture in france or belgium there would seem to be no reason for the uk to have any of this lot here,
our french lords and masters just waive them through, our government are disgracefully letting us down by not applying the dublin agreement,
that is important to the well being of the uk, not how straight your banana is...................

The word "Asylum" is being abused by any economic migrants who want to come to the UK.
If they were "true" asylum seekers why would the live in ramshackle tents in France just to be able to jump on a lorry and get to the UK.
It is another example of this lazy Labour government allowing any piece of scum to stay in the country who happens to arrive here.
"Asylum" they claim, and we are lumbered with them almost for ever.
I have said for a while, this current government are dragging this country down to the level of the third world.
We may never recover.

I wish I could come up with answer as to why this rotten Goverment of ours is allowing it to happen VHG, I can't, just what benefits can they see by this?
I think, and that's including the present population of already here "imigrants" should be forced to speak English when in this country, if they don't want to, well we don't want them, there should be an enterance exam like there is in Belgium and Australia, they should prove they are here to benefit the British economy, not sending money back to there own country and the practise of young Indian/Pakistan girls being sent to a country they have never been to, to marry a person they have never seen, only for that person to claim a British passport, should definatley be stopped .
