47 Answers
what if aliens landed and had the same scripture as our bible?
What if they knew of Jesus christ an all and said a prophet or whatever had visited their world light years away and told them the bible story and they all believed the same as us?
Would that be enough proof for non believers?

Despite a vast body of evidence contridicting their stupid Holy Book the worshippers are still prepared to believe the Earth is only 6000 years old, God individually created every living thing and dinosaur fossils are an elaborate hoax. All this on the basis that some men wrote it down a long time ago.
Others are happy to believe in Scientology which was founded by a science fiction writer and described briefly but accurately in my previous post.
Still more accept that the Israelites went to Utah (the true Promised Land) where God wrote His wisdom on a gold plate that could be translated by staring at a special rock in a hat. Only one guy ever actually saw the plate or was capable of using the magic rock.
Now which people do you think are stubborn and deluded?

Gosh,The Sherman, I've only just noticed your little tantrum there against rojash and me.
rojash made the point very well: that one could think up a thousand hypothetical questions and ask whether that would make an atheist think again. And they would all be as stupid as yours.
And why shouldn't one use one's keyboard to say so? Yours to promote daft questions, and ours to comment on them.
I do feel a blush of modesty, though, when you acknowledge my intellectual superiority in public like that. I'm quite sure that many ABers have recognised it long ago but have not wanted to embarrass me by mentioning it. Thank you.

I will gladly concede to your higher intellect on most subjects in this category chakka but our of your intelligence comes extreme arrogance. So whilst i respect your opinion on this site i fid you quite repugnant and in future if you could do me a favour and NOT post on my questions especially when you have absolutely nothing to offer I would appreciate it.
As an atheist, can I just give my take on the possibility of intelligent life on other planets.
The big bang started the whole universe thing, no I dont know that either, sending all the clouds of dust etc outward. Now given the incidence of probability there could, billions of light years away be other life forms, however they will have evolved at about the same pace that we have, so they should not yet have be able to star travel.
If they have perfected star travel the chances of finding our planet are the equivalent of throwing a dart at a dartboard, in Wembley stadium, in the dark and hitting double top.
Meanwhile Sherman you are saying that exactly the same book word for word would have been written by this civilisation.
Lets all laugh at Sherman HaHaHa

Oh dear, The Sherman, I'm sorry if I offended you. But don't forget that it was your question that I was ridiculing, not you. (Unlike, I may say, your ad hominem remarks about me.)
Alright, I'll take your question seriously and my answer is No. It could be that those aliens had, by some means or other, acquired the same delusions as their earthly fellows. And they could not 'know of' Jesus any more than we can. All there is is a story.
But why go at it in such a round-about way? Why not cut to the chase and ask: If we supplied categoric proof tomorrow of the existence of God and the truth of the Jesus story would non-believers believe?
To which the answer is oviously Yes. We atheists are rational people who arrive at our conlusions through analysing, and applying logic and commonsense to, facts and evidence, eschewing superstition. And if God and Jesus could be vouched for by such means then you would have to count me in.
But since there is no such proof, and not even the faintest scrap of evidence that God exists, the question would be meaningless.
And what more positive contribution can one make to a thread than to differentiate between serious questions that deserve a thoughtful answer and those which aren't and don't?

If Space is truly infinite, and there is any life whatsoever, then there is life just like us.
That is the nature of infinity ... for every incidence of life, there is another incidence of life less like us, and another one more like us. And so on, ad infinitum (literally).
It follows that, if there is any other form of scripture in the Universe, then you can follow the variation on and on, ad infinitum, until you find a scripture identical to our Bible.
So ...
1. Somewhere out there, there is a form of life identical to our, with a scripture identical to our Bible.
2. It is a coincidence.
If you do not agree with this, then you simply do not understand the meaning of "infinity", and you are confusing infinity with "very, very big".
