Mysterious Personalities

I was wondering, how would one define a mysterious personality?
Is it the mysterious attraction of somebody that is mysterious or is it just that the person's personality has so many facets that u don't understand them and call them as mysterious?
I don't know if my question is in the right topic but, i couldn't think of any else topic to put it in.

I don't really understand what you mean, blackeyed. Can you give an example of the sort of person you would deem to be mysterious?

its like i have a friend who people sometimes call as mysterious.I found it was very hard to understand her.You never know what's going through her mind,u can never know when she is serious and when she is joking etc.
But after knowing her for three years i felt she was not mysterious just a little complicated(as in confused).So, i was just wondering what be a mysterious person be like?
Are they just shy or they speak less or they have in explicable attraction( i like to call that the X factor) or what?

i would say it is a private person who doesn't feel the need or inclination to open up and talk about themselves, their life or their feelings in any great detail. the attraction to some people is that they just wnt to know everything abiut everyone and are flummoxed by such private people, and they call them mysterious meaning they want to suss them out.

I too think people who prefer to maintain their privacy can induce curiosity in those who can't relate to that, and therefore don't understand why they do it. There could be many reasons your friend is reluctant to talk about herself. Shyness perhaps, or an inner conviction that people aren't really interested in her and that she will bore them and send them scurrying off; or perhaps she feels that others are judgemental and that she is unable to trust them - or maybe none of the above. Perhaps she just prefers to maintain a low profile, and to keep her thoughts to herself. Quite honestly, those who have no hesitation in spilling their life history to all and sundry, expecting the world to be interested, are a mystery to me.
