Would he sort anything out or have any affect?
You have answered your own question .
Surely you mean *when* Jesus comes *back* to Earth... ;-)
Well judging by the bible, when Jesus comes to Earth it is for the final judgement, so he wouldn't be really sorting out the Earth, he'd be sorting the good from the bad and bringing the "good" ones with him, condemning the others to hell?? Maybe I'm wrong here.. :P

Mark if I give a sunni about that this would be in literature.
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a silent night
They told me a fairy story
Till I believed in the Israelite
If Jesus came back no one would recognise him because he wasn't what people believe he was.

Couple of miracles surely and no probs.
He would end up in a mental hospital - in fact, who's to say he isn't in one right now.

He can walk through walls and bet out of straight jackets so that doesn't hold water karen.
I've heard he was at the dentist, just the other day . . .

A couple of miracles wouldn't do it. Television magicians do that sort of thing regularly. Houdini got out of straightjackets - and I'd be willing to bet Jesus couldn't walk through walls.

As I said on another thread recently, birdie, how do these people who see Jesus in drying plaster and so on know what they are looking for? Where are the photographs for reference?

And I always laugh out loud when a hysterical teenager or two see a Virgin Mary who is tall and slim with a peaches-and-cream complexion, often with blonde hair and maybe even wearing a crucifix! She would, as you say, be swarthy, to which I would add a Jewish nose, dark to black hair, a shortish build and possibly slightly plump due to a diet laced with olives and fatty lamb. Just a guess, but an educated one.

The original question is a daft one until you have established (a) that Jesus existed, and (b) that he had the magical powers to 'come back' (from where?). Both thngs are imposible to prove or even offer good evidence for. Still, this is the R&S site.
It's not only his physical appearance that would prevent people from recognising him - his philosophy wouldn't be recognised either. Jesus wasn't a Christian - there was no such thing in his day. He was a devout Jew - and I don't believe he ever intended to found a new religion. Christianity was invented by other people in his name and long after his death. Jesus has been used and abused for centuries, and I feel very sorry for him.
I read that the whole Jesus story was made up by Saul of Tarsus(St Paul).
Any number of faiths hold on to the idea of a great spirit/ual leader coming to save/lead/judge them... The jesus story has much in common with Pagan beliefs about a goddess who has a child by a 'god' the child god grows and is cut down in his prime so that life can continue... on that basis the virgin mary is just another manifestation of the ancient fertility goddess and Jesus the corn god or whatever I prefer to believe there is a life force or energy in all of us, whether it has consciousness or not I don't like organised religions as they are creations of man to control other men and women...
Yes, Garmard, Paul was the very first person ever to mention Jesus - in his epistles written between AD55 and 60. He said, without supplying any evidence or eye-witnesses, that there was once a man called Jesus who was the son of God, who came to earth as a redeemer, who was crucified and rose from the dead, and that everyone who believed that story would have everlasting life. That was the start of Christianity. There was absolutely nothing before that.
