I have read some religious posts on here regarding Karma after you are dead, but is there any truth in Karma whilst alive?

I could spend a month trying to be more nice to people than I generally am and the following month an ignorant Little Bustard to people just like I encounter regularly and not feel as if my life is any different.
Just for the record I do not go out of my way to upset people (well maybe for mischief on here sometimes lol) and genuinely believe people in the real world regard me as "nice".

Kirk, yes you do, but that nasty person overrides all that in your mind, and sticks with you, doesn't he? He's the one you have to beat. Don't let the xxxxxxxx get you down!
Hopkirk, I went to Sri Lanka very shortly after the Tsunami, and the devastation was far worse than anything any news report or film footage could have possibly prepared me for. However, the main streets were strewn with bunting, which seemed odd to me. When I asked why, I was told that because the Pope had just died, the people of Sri Lanka wanted to show their sympathy to the Catholics of the world. And so amid all that death and suffering and indescribable devastation, those people still thought of others. That's good Karma.
Incidentally, for me God isn't an issue.
