Canon Carrick LPG cooker-failure of full flame control bottom oven
Canon Carrick LPG double oven cooker - failure of full flame control on bottom oven.
I have had this cooker for 14 months and used it for 6 months only from new. The bottom main oven has just started to play up. It ignites and just will not adjust from it's low flame status. You can turn the control knob from 1 to 9 but it will not adjust the flame control at all. Usually when working normally and after two minutes from ignition the flame would rise and could be adjusted. A couple of weeks ago it would take longer than two minutes for the flame to rise, and the control knob didnt seem to alter the full flame height untill it was down to number 1 setting, so it was either full on or down to very low. I have also noticed that you cannot push the main oven control knob in a s far as the 4 gas rings or top oven control knobs. I dont remember it being like this. Any ideas on what might be the fault here?

I have had plenty of trouble with the ovens on it and Cannon have changed it for new ones on 2 occasions as they couldn't get them to work properly, new cookers that is. Had engineers in over 10 times in less than 6 months. If it is that new I would take out the extra cover that they will let you have and get them to fix it. I had one that did similar to yours and wouldn't light properly and also the top oven would light then once it had got to the right temp would turn itself off. My last cooker was also a Cannon which is why I went for them again but wish I hadn't. The new ones are not a patch on the old ones.
Hi, as AlBags says it could be the flame control device that is faulty or it could be the thermostat in the oven that has gone. When they came to do mine on one occasion they changed the one part and on another they changed the two of them plus others. If you take out the extended warranty it may be cheaper than getting the parts yourself and they will change any parts that need changing and you get peace of mind for the next twelve months. I would give them a ring and see what they say. You could also say that a cooker should last longer than it has especially with the little bit of use it has had.
I agree could also be a thermostat problem ..
