E-bay problem. Please help!!

I have sold an item to a buyer on E-bay. They have paid me, but the item I was posting out to them has a fault. I informed the buyer, and said I would give a full refund to them immediately, and not post the item out.
Can the buyer leave negative feedback after I have given a full refund?!! Many thanks in advance!

yes....if they want to. the transaction may have been a negative experience for them and they can leave whatever feedback they like.
if they do you can give a reply to say you gave a refund to them
Good communication, trying to let the customer to change your evaluation, or giving a small present,
