Warning Scam Alert Microsoft
13 Answers
I received a call from someone suppose to be from Microsoft with regards to the recent changes to the XP service updates and security issues the person was Indian which is nothing unusual as most of the call centres are now based in India .This was in fact a scam and on making enquiries I find that this has been going on for some time .The idea is they sell you a Fake programme if you Google Windows security Scam there are multiple issues raised ,fascinating .
Have you received this type of call if so could you give me brief details one of the avenues I am exploring requires you to think back before you received the call ,have you dealt with SKY,BT,which transfers calls to India .
When I asked where they were calling from The Scammers say they are phoning from Victoria Street London,my phone tells me whether the call is from the UK or otherwise and the call was not in the UK ,I did ask to speak to an English person as I said I did not understand their accent I was then put on to a "Senior Supervisor"!! who was not to happy with my questions ,then the call ended .
Please feel free to add anything that you might feel useful ,(I do not need sarcastic comments I have lorry loads thank you) Please let me know .

The first person who calls is usually a minor employee. He can be led on for ten to fifteen minutes before the 'Senior Supervisor' takes over.
They have often begun by asking me if I am in front of my computer.
I reply 'yes'
'Can you see the Windows logo in the bottom left corner of the screen?'
'No.'
'Bottom left!'
'No, can't see anything.'
Eventually I ask if they want me to actually switch my computer on - even if it is on; and so on and so on. I managed to keep one lot on the phone for nearly half an hour in this way while carrying on with what I was originally doing. Good fun and delays then calling others with the scam.
